Looking for a quality campground in the U.P. Would like to be on Lake Superior shoreline or close to it. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

What area do you want and do you want a state park or private. If you want a state park try Mclain State Park in Hancock. It is on the Keweenaw Peninsula and is a beautiful park. On a bluff over looking Lake Superior with stairs down to the water. Fantastic sunsets. When we were there the staff cleaned the bathrooms twice a day in the morning and then again around 3:30. When a camper left the staff came and raked the lot and cleaned the fire pit. I highly recommend this park. Here is a link to some photos from our trip. These were taken in 2005. We went for a day trip to the park last summer and it still seemed the same.

Munising Tourist Park at Munising, on Lake Superior--public park, reasonable price, along the highway, not far from town & beautiful Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and other wonderful scenic spots. Beautiful sunset...park had large sites. We camped there last July. cityofm@jamadots.com

Just stay away from "Camp Gitchee-Gumee" about 10 miles east of Marquette on Hwy 28 on Lake Superior. Web site says one thing; actual practice says another. My review, along with several others, is at this link.

Muskallonge Lake State Park. It's between a great inland lake and Lake Superior. You can walk miles of the beach from there. It's on the eastern end of the UP so you can get to some of the other spots up there without too bad of drive.
