We checked our mileage on our f250 psd towing to the north GA mountians. We got 12 mpg. It was better coming down the "hill" to home. (I'll check later) Just curious what do yall get?

Only pulled our new trailer (abt 6,000 lbs. packed) once so far but got 10 to 11 MPG. Pulling the former 18' Star Stream (abt 3,700 lbs packed) we got 11 to 12 MPG.

Strangest thing. A few years ago we had a 1989 30' Georgie Boy MH. We left NJ and went to Louisiana and back. Going through the mountains and hills in Virginia and Tennessee we got about 5.5 MPG. We hit flat land in Mississippi and Louisiana and it dropped to 4.5. We could not understand it!

Last October we took the same trip but with our F250 superduty Diesel pulling a 36' Cedar Creek Fifth Wheel. Through the mountains we were getting a little 9 mpg. We hit the flat land in it dropped to 8.5 or less.

Anyone have an explanation?

I average 13 maybe 14 mpg with my 2004 Dodge Cummins towing a 31' Keystone. I try to keep the speed to around 60 mph and watch the tach. I have made a few mods to the truck help with the mpg. I am thinking about a wind deflector next.

Between 11 and 13 depending on wind and hills. I get as much or more MPG with the 29 ft trailer as I do with the 22 ft and it weighs around 2500 lbs more than the 22 ft. Much better aerodynamics.

Wind?

We once had a 35 mph tailwind and our towing mpg for a full tank was 11.5 in a 6.8 Excursion towing 8500 lbs. The same trip down last year we hit a headwind that dropped us to around 6 mpg.

Normally she tows at around 8.5 - 9 mpg now that I've dropped towing speed to 55.

It wasn't the speed we were driving. Both times we were on cruise control at around 60. When it happened the first time we thought it was a fluke. But when it happened again and in a different vehicle, we were flabbergasted. One would think traveling through mountains would be less mpg. Go figure!
