As I understand it, hydraulic slides drift when in transit and need to be locked down. I full timed for three years with a Jayco with electric slides and never had the need to lock them in.

Never heard of that. My hydraulic slide works on a rack & pinion gear system that need the pump motor to be activated to move the slide; it never budges on it's own. There is no locking mechanism for it since it's not required.

I believe more problems on this forum using hydraulic slides than electric but maybe there are more hydraulic slides than electric now. I haven't had any problems with our electric power gears slide and don't think I would like the other because electric doesn't seem to leak much. Yes hydraulic slides can work out driving down the road. chevman
