I spoke to my electrician friend who advised me that most likely the line to the pedstal has probably been compromised. He said if the sheathing is cut under the ground, and electricity is going into the ground, the meter doesn't know the difference, but its not enough to trip the breaker. He said it is faily common but not right

Is there a street light there? I know at times they have things plugged into the meter like a router or light that you can't see. But it shouldn't turn if unplugged, mine will stop with it plugged in if the battery is charged.

We left our camper plugged in all season long and had a full size domestic refrigerator running, our bill was never more than $17 a month including camping times when we had lights and AC going. Meter has to be broken. Wish my electric bill at home was $17!!!!

I agree with all the above posts, but will add that it is possible that the meter is bad, I would get it corrected as soon as possible. Good Luck and let us know how it turns out.

Well the campground called me yesterday to let me know they did there own test and what they found was that everything is normal. OK? He said the meter took about 20-30 seconds to finally stop, he said there is stored up electricity that needs to work itself out in between the brakers and the meter, Hum? Which I thought I looked at it for more than 1 minute. My electrician friend started to laugh when i told him this. So I guess when I go up on thursday I will need to look at it again. Sounds a little fishy to me.

I think those electrons must have been generated on a Monday or a Friday. I would ask for a refund if they are that slow.
*edit*

I did find a reference to meter 'creep' at wikipedia. Here goes:
"In an induction type meter, creep is a phenomenon that can adversely affect accuracy, that occurs when the meter disc rotates continuously with potential applied and the load terminals open circuited. A creep test is when the meter is tested for the error due to creep."

I feel very lucky that electric is included in our yearly fee. There was a rumor last year that the owner was going to put in meters, someone pointed out it would cost him a fortune to have them put in and get up to code.

If that were the case I would think the lights in your trailer would fade out when turned off.....
