Pics found here: Pics of mods
I posted on this a few weeks ago and took our first trip with these mods and took a couple pictures.
Basically we have no need for the back end bunk so we removed the mattress. Put some indoor/outdoor carpet and tacked it down. Then got a shelving unit and put that in (it can be easily taken down and stored right in the bunk end.
What this has done is given us about 6-7" of storage while popped down and traveling. Great for things like tables and stuff. Just don't put anything that might catch on the canvas.
When popped up we now have a "pantry" to put all our dry food and makes it easy to move things around like suitcases.
The other mods are shelving related. First one was a closetmaid shelf we put upside down on S hooks from some hooks already on the ceiling. Also got a small shelf to put over the sink and 3 shelves on our counter. All told maybe $25 spent and it really helped organize our week long trip.
Hope these give others some ideas.

Nice mod., it's giving me ideas for my next TT if it has bunks in the rear.

That would be a great use. I've seen the TT's that have the bunk beds in the back and only one of them in use (if any). Putting some inexpensive shelving units on them by taking out the mattress would add a lot of organized storage.

Hey that's cool. I did something similar when I had a hybrid. Never needed the rear full bed for sleeping. It was kind of a pain to set it up and break it down though. But the convenience sure was nice.

Did this this weekend after reading about it here on the board. My shelving unit is smaller and I have the short shelf sitting on the counter (I hate the counter being so low) for my coffee maker. I have always used the bunk for storage while popped up, but I love the stability I have by removing the mattress. Can't believe I never thought of it before.

Same here. Both my wife and I were saying "why in the world didn't we think of this 2 years ago". My wife sets up inside and she said it added just a couple minutes to set up time and it was well worth it for a week long trip.
