I don't know exactly where in Colorado you are looking but we have stayed in some nice ones. RV Ranch in Grand Junction is a nice park. We just got back from Cortez and Durango and the Cortez KOA was nice but not what I would consider 4 or 5 star. In Durango the Alpen Rose was a nice campground and the Durango Riverside Resort was very nice. It was formerly the KOA North and under new ownership. The have made some nice improvements and we stayed at a back-in site right on the Animas river. There again I wouldn't consider it a 5 star because most 5 star resorts are all paved and concrete, but this was gravel and a very nice park right in the trees. Mike.

I can't remember the name of the RV park in Pagosa Springs. It is a short distance east of town on US 160. All sites and street paved. Next to the river. Beautiful grass every where except pavement. Very nice people. We stayed there last summer.

Alan I believe this is the one your talking about. It looked great as we went by going up Wolf Creek Pass.

There is no way you will get a decent answer without defining what you mean by "GREAT".

What some of us may consider to be a great place might be considered to be boring or a dump to you.

I know of a place that we consider GREAT but you might have a hard time getting you rig into it.

So please.... what do you consider needed things to make for a "GREAT" campground.

Thank you for all the great tips!

I would like to specifically address NGRFan's comment suggesting that I be more specific about what I/we consider as "GREAT" in an RV Park/Resort and thank you for raising this good point.

Specifically, I believe it would be good to focus on a park/resort that has paved roads and site pads. Of course, looking for overall appeal -- views, cleanliness, pride of ownership, proximity to local attractions, amenities of particular interest and use for Class A coaches up to 45' in length with full slides.

I hope that this is more clear - again, thanks for this great response, most impressive and helpful, indeed!

Cris
