Well, I did it this time.

Backing in to the driveway, I overshot the stops for the rear wheels, and bumped the overhang on the garage. Now the ladder is bent, and the overhead has a nick in it.

Nothing else hurt, so I guess I'd better count myself lucky.

Next time I'll make sure Oscar is outside before beginning the backin part!!

Bummer! That's rotten, but thank God it wasn't worse. We've had worse! It's not fun.

Just two days ago an elderly couple pulled into the space next to us. The wife was directing him in and all of a sudden I heard a "CRUNCH". They had pulled the left side of the rear cap completely loose and back by about 18 inches. I asked if I could help, they agreed and I had him cut his wheels and back up a few inches to release the coach from the shorepower pole. The wife was just sick, she walked away and couldn't be consoled. The gent came outside with an oxygen hose and looked at the damage and just shrugged his shoulders.
I told him that I could do a temporary repair on it if he wanted, he jumped at the offer. So I and another gent got out our tools and we pushed the rear cap back into place and removed the old screws and replaced them in new locations. It actually came back together and left no visible damage except for a 5" crack about 6 feet above. I wish I could have gotten away so lucky when I tore the rear cap on my MH at Joshua Tree. $5,000.00 for that little incident.

you can aim a back up camera down and see your bumper, but it doesn't aim up at the ladder or anything else that sticks out. I did the same thing, dented the back of the coach, punched a hole in the water trough.

We've owned our coach just over a year.

Hit a Stop Sign doing a 37 point turn ($637) Tree branches, Snow Bank, Guard Rail ($2100) lucky they were all on the same side. Also paid $200 for driving lessons... lot of good they did.

Do like us and buy with a bent ladder and save the effect, time and expense. I am not sure I could enjoy making a new one look like ours that is 15 years old. Pulling into the shop parking lot last time I caught a pipe sticking out from the dumpster. While there an area of skirting (between two storage door got crushed up about an half inch and crunched the fiberglass at the very bottom edge. Thankfully both were stress free experiences.

Don't feel to bad! I did 1,300.00 worth of paint damage when I backed my coach into its storage pad alongside the house. Rubbed the gutter. Fortunately, I did no body damage, and only creased the gutter a little bit. The paint job was through 3 different colors.

That lesson taught me to NEVER back the coach in without my spotter.
