Okay, just came back from a weekend trip and the bugs were bad. We had 30% DEET Bug Spray and it didn't do in any good. What is everyone finding to be the most effective bug repellent.
I heard from my SIL and the CG Host that Listerine is the up and coming bug repellent. Yes I am being serious!!!!!!!!
We are heading out again for the 4th of July and we would like to avoid any serious bites due to Triple E and I have young Children.
Thanks in advance.

Read this Forum Thread about Thermacell a couple of weeks ago. Ordered some but have yet to use.
Most reviews that I checked out of the Internet were favorable.

What brand of 30% were you using? Bout the only real way to combat this is to see if you can get tree foggers and blast the trees near you. Been using Deep Woods Off for a long time, but when they're big and hungry it ain't enough. With as many as there is this year, I may need to invest in something that's even higher concentration.

As far as mosquitoes we use a fan when sitting out side. Direct the fan to where you don't want them. Mosquitoes will not fly in a strong breeze.

We tried the amber colored listerine and it did seem to help a little. We sprayed a fine mist on screen door and around the doorway. We also put some down on the graound araound the chairs and we did not have many bugging us. Just be carefull and don't get it on any wood surfaces, may damage them. We tried the green listerine but the amber worked better.
Just my 2 cents worth of info.
Happy Camping!!!!

Now that's good Ken! That's EXACTLY what we do and it WORKS good for flies, hornets and gnats too!
You stay cool and they can't "stick" around!
Hey we don't only "roll" cool, we "sit" cool too.

Mouth wash is myth, check snopes..
Besides I've used mouth wash after a meal went out side and still bitten.
1st only the females bite.. Not for food but lay in larva for their young. Males don't bite. Its all about carbon in your breath. Because of that, some think by using mouth wash they can mask the carbon in their breath but it does not fool them.
Deet helps to mask this and confuse them some, NOT repel them.
Some deet and an outdoor fan will control the females from biting in a small area. I bring two fans. I put one at each end of awnings when bugs are out and point in.
No I'm not a pest control person, I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night. Actually I watched all this in discovery channel.

I use MUSKOL. It's the best, but it has lots of DEET. If I can't get Muskol, I use Deep Woods Off, but I prefer Muskol.
I recreate in Manitoba and N.W. Ontario....biting bug capital of the world, as we know it.
