Funny you should ask!
We are in Canada for the summer and just got mail and a request for jury duty. We have had this happen a number of times in past years. The way we handle it is via email. A brief note saying we are on holiday and will not be in the state at that time. We always get a response that indicates they will reschedule at another time. No need to talk to them OR visit them or tell them I am a fulltimer OR anything else.
End of story!

One solution might be to arrange to take your turn BEFORE you go.

That is exactly what I did before we hit the road.

From then on, I have been hounded and threatened by San Bernardino County, even tho we have been SD residents for nearly 5 years. Even DMV, who the county gets the names from, says I have not had a CA dl for nearly 5 years

If I had it to do all over again, I wonder if I would volunteer......once in the system......

are you still on the voter rolls back in CA?

Of course, I don't know about other jurisdictions, but the Jury Duty Summonses we got while we were fulltiming had a landline number to call. I called them, told them where I was, and asked what motel they were going to put me in (our house was rented at the time), and how much travel pay they were going to give me. The clerk said she would explain to the Judge that I was unavailable.
No problem.

The clerk in Sioux City - Minnehaha county - told me to write "Full time RVer" on the summons and sent it back to her and she would take care of it.

I was talking to a guy that was domiciled in Mitchell SD as I recall and he had a problem getting excused. He had to supply a doctors report about his health issues to get excused. I have not heard of that happening from other Mitchell SD residents though. Maybe the judge had a bad day or something.
