My parents will be 85 (Mom) and 89 (Dad) this August. They still have the Prowler TT they have had since 1988 (last trailer they bought in a long string of tents, home grown tent trailers and commercial fold down and hard side trailers of various makes), but no longer drive. So, either my sister or I try to haul it to their favorite campsite at a provincial park in the north west part of Saskatchewan for a week or two each year.If you have the desire and are healthy enough to camp, go for it.Sure beats sitting and staring at the inside of four walls and stagnating.

Mostly 60's with class C's and A's.
Well we are in our 40's with kids and dog and have a 27' class C. We met a great couple last summer in an A with three kids, about our ages too.
My Mum in her mid 70's is looking forward to using the C this summer too. She does not want to drive it, so we will deliver it to the campground and pick it up again.
I am not sure what age is supposed to do with it. My neighbour gave up his B when he had give up his driver's license. He camped well into his 80s.
We met a great couple last summer in an older 24' C. They were in their mid to late 70's and having a blast.
I don't know when to start, but i've been rving since I was a kid with the grandparents. On my own, i've been rving since 2004. And, i'm only 41 now, so I started on my own at 37, wife 35.
As for the average age i've seen in campground, when i've done a campground since I 99.9% boondock alone, has been around late 50s and up. Saw a couple in a humongous A that were in their early 80s getting around almost as good as I did.
It doesn't matter how old you are. If you are able, can drive safely, and enjoy seeing the world, it's time to start just as soon as you get a license.
If I don't meet your expectations
Maybe you should lower your standards.
I agree with everything posted. But I can't resist commenting. After you sell you house, don't buy another house too soon. Buy the RV and put your 'can't-live-withouts' in storage somewhere. Then go on the road full time for as long as you want to. There may come a day when you decide its too much. Then you can buy that retirement house. We have a house and RV and, frankly, if the market was stronger, we would sell the house and full-time for at least a couple of years. We have friends who full-time and visit their stuff in storage once or twice per year.
BTW we are 66 and 67, retired when we were 57 & 58. Good luck and look for all your new camping friends on the road.
livin' and lovin' the retired life in Fl. And travellin' in our MH.

we are full timers, i'm 39 and my wife 36, and we use a 27' class c. we have been on the road since 2006 between a tent and the rv. My brother is 46 and he has been using a travel trailer for years. he is about to retire in a few more years, 2012 i think and he is going to be moving up to a big trailer.
We have been tempted with the price of big rigs like some of the monacos going cheaper these days used to move up, but we did a lot of remodeling on our c and kinda comfy with it.
looking around most the places we stay i'd say the average is 55-65 for a or c, trailer maybe 35-65, and tent anywhere in between and younger. although last year on the AT we ran into a lot of 65+ sleeping in tents.

A couple of kayaks, bikes, and whatever else we can pile on
We meet people of all ages. My mom is almost 86 and we are going out for four days this weekend. The couple across the street from us just celebrated their 52nd annaversery so they must be in their 70s and they have a nice DP. He was mentioning something about getting rid of it and I asked what he wanted. Turns out he is planning to trade in on a bigger one. Age is pretty much irrelavant. Attitude is what's relavant...go for it.
