I bought a NEW 2008 Jayco jayflight 30BHS for 16,990 a very good price. I was called after the sale by the salesman and told that my rig should have never been sold as it was hail damaged. Upon inspection, I found the dents, barely viable at an angle. To complicate things more, The exact trailer I was shown on the lot was a different one and I was sold one without being told of the damage.
The dealer is going to have their insurance adjuster come here and give me compensation for the damage. so my questions....
I was sold a new rig with damage who's fault is it? Mine for not noticing or theirs since they had already turned the vin into the insurance co.
How much should it cost to replace every metal panel on a 30' trailer with a slide?
if they try giving me a low figure what can I do... I don't care about the dents so much but this was supposed to be a New Trailer My first brand new anything I bought.
My fear is that they will not give me enough for the damage and when I trade it in the future my trade will be low
Thanks for any advise
Had a Nice Signature Made here, Resized it and it won't let me use it so whatever......

See if they will give you some $$$ back on it. You did say you could live with the dents. I know I couldn't. Especially when it's a brand new 2008.
I was just ready to sign on a truck a few years back when I noticed something that would have haunted me as long as I owned it. I passed it by.
You're really stuck in between a rock and a hard place now. I would hope the dealer orders you a new one since they "should not have sold it" to you. I wish you luck.

Did something like that once with a car that we took delivery of at night. BIG mistake!! Had a cracked dash board that they would not take care of. Claimed we did it in the 12 hrs we had it. In the end they did buy back the car and we took our business elsewhere.
I am assuming the hail damage is not very bad.. Or you would have seen it on the walk threw and known about it before the salesperson call you.
Take it back and demand it be fixed or replaced!
Well anyway, good luck

Sooner or later most all tt are going to get hail damage. If it was me, I would take the insurance money (if it was enough) and be happy with my cheaper tt. Especially if it is so minor that you didn't even notice it.

DON’T ACCEPT IT!
Imagine showing off your new trailer and everyone asking, “What happened to it?”
It WILL bug the heck out of you every time you look at it. I am telling you, you will be kicking yourself for not requesting a new UNDAMAGED trailer. If you are willing to pay the price for a new trailer, don’t accept compensation for a damaged one.

Every one is different sounds like you got a good price. If you keep it a few years you will have enough dings the ones on it now will not matter.some people a ding will drive crazy others don't care.It depends on what the insurance adjuster says, may be a bargain.

Everyone has their own opinion, I would not be happy with it for as long as I owned it, no matter what the insurance paid me. My DH, it wouldn't bother a bit. Why did the dealer pull a switch on you? I am assuming (wrong?) that you were going to purchase the other trailer? The OP is correct, won't be long until there is a ding somewhere on it, so it all comes down to what you can accept. Good luck on your decision.

I had a 2001 jayco. Paid 8500 for it. Got hailed on, and it seemed so minimal that I almost didn't even call the ins. company. But I decided to let them know, and to my suprize they totaled it. Valued it at 11,300, and I bought it back from them for 5000. Like you said though, it was barely noticeable. I was told to replace one top panel involves taking every panel off from the bottom up. Lot's of labor involved. I should also mention that that unit had a one piece aluminum roof, not rubber. So that could of been some of what jacked the damage up. Never leaked or anything, just looked beat up, but you can't see the roof anyway.

They wanted to total my old trailer after hail damage but I just told them I just wanted the awning replaced and they did that in a heart beat.
I would have another RV place or insurance adjuster look at it, if they say 6,000 bucks to fix it or what ever, I would tell them to give me that or take it back. If they want to fix it I would demand a new one because it may take a long time to repair it and you may miss the camping season. as for the first question, it's not your fault.
