I have a line on a used TrailAir pin-box. Its the correct one for my application (direct bolt-on). My question is that I only have around 500#s of stated hitch weight (not sure this extended pin is the original supplied hitch, so actual could be slightly more).

I'm getting a jarring ride, even though its only 5000 pounds. I am thinking that what I am experiencing is the fact my hitch weight isn't enough to actually compress the springs of my 2500 to smooth things out (this camper is designed to be towed with a 1/2 ton truck). Sorta compressing the springs down just enough to contact the overloads, and that is causing the jouncing. I can actually watch the camper cycling up/down.

Will an air-ride pin work with that light of a tongue weight? Will it be worth the effort?

Should work just fine. Just be careful though, it can get mesmerizing watching the trailer moving and the truck rock steady while going down the road

You would probably find that your stated hitch weight is more then 500lbs especially after loaded. The trail-air is adjustable (more or less air) and in my opinion is a good product. I think it will definitely do some good with the ride and worth the effort.

The Trail Air has lines on the shock to let you know when it is properly inflated - obviously because pin weight differs by the trailer and load. Properly inflated, I would suspect that your ride should smooth out considerably. Mine works great.

I have the TrailAir and I am also experiencing the jarring/bucking with my set up. I am working with Lippert Ind on this problem and hopefully will get it resolved or I will get rid of it.

The max GVW of the entire unit is only 4800#s...

I guess we'll see...

I can sorta watch the truck/trailer moving up and down against each other now...I'm not sure its all up/down, some is probably surge, but it seems the majority is up/down.

On the smooth, I can't even tell I'm hitched to anything, very smooth...only the bigger bumps bother me.

I got to travel to NY to pick it up, but I'm getting it for a fair price.

Anyone have the owner's manual for one of these hitches?

I'm sure it is pretty much straight forward...just like to have it for my records...

Owners manual? I never got one. A one page explanation on how to adjust the pressure is about all I have ever seen.

I use the TrailAir, and it does a good enough job for me. Doesn't really help much with chunking, it's more for up/down jarring bumps.
