I have a 2008 Palomino Bronco B1500, I would like to know if I need to do anything special to add a Coleman Polar Cub 9000 BTU air conditioner? All the info I could find says the unit is "Roof Air Ready", so I would think I would be good to go, just want to be sure I don't need to add any bracing to the roof?

Thanks

Bill

I would contact the manufacturer, tell them of your plan, and see what they say.

The PC is about 90#s and will go over a standard 14" vent hatch. The key is your power source. I had a Sunlite PU that a guy put a huge 13.5 btu unit on and ran the power alone the ceiling down to a receptacle he installed in the refer outside box access. That unit was very heavy and you always had to keep a hand on the ceiling when raising and lowering. Otherwise, the lift was too strenuous for the small gear and was a potential strip failure and when lowering, the ceiling would crash down on your head. I guess that's the "extra bracing" - your head.

I have the same camper and was told by my dealer that a 9000 btu would be a good choice - the rearward vent is pre-wired with AC (pun intended) power so it should be an easy install. (I do not have A/c)

Just got this email from Palomino.

""Bill

The roof will be fine it is supported for an AC.

Thank you for your interest in Palomino RV
Adam Simonson""

This is what I just ordered for it ""Coleman POLAR CUB 9000btu LOW PROFILE Air Conditioner""

Hope to have it here for the weekend.
