Just an idea, if you are going to rent a car anyway, we stayed at the
Snake River RV Park in Idaho Falls and drove to Jackson and then into Grand Teton and Yellowstone. We had been through the northern part of Yellowstone a week or so earlier, so just did the south end that trip. The park was clean and the prices were fairly reasonable.

We'll just have to see how it goes when I check back. There's always the KOA,.... but one things for sure, I not hanging around for too many days at those prices.... and will hang back a ways until my cousins fly in to jackson rather than go in early. I can't park at their kids house, since they live in a restricted area.
Sully2 You might pm me the dry camp info, just in case.

I have reservations at the Grizzly. It is expensive, but I have paid more elsewhere in the USA.
If it isn't everything I hoped it to be, I am sending Sully the bill.

Guess we had a different experience. Stayed at the KOA and loved it. Our TT was right on a creek and we felt like we were in a remote place. Great for visiting the Tetons. Could easily rent a car in Jackson. But it would be long drives to see Yellowstone--too long in my opinion. But maybe no for you. Check out the mileages.

We are in WYS now. RedRock RV in Island Park Idaho is awesome. The Grizzly in West is expensive, but nice and new.

I would probably go for this Grizzly, especially if I could do without the car... if it weren't for family flying in to Jackson. Anyway, how expensive is expensive?

Idaho Falls is about 65 miles from Jackson and a bit of a reach for driving into the parks. By the time you get to Yellowstone, depending on traffic, you have two to two and a half hours of drive time in. There really aren't many RV Parks on the south side of the parks. If you can get a reservation somewhere at this late a date I would jump on it. There is a park on the Snake River right where 189-191 comes out of Hoback Canyon, but I can't remember the name of it.

We stayed in Jackson a couple of days last fall, then went to Coulter Bay in the Tetons for a few days, then to Grizzly. The Virginian is expensive, close to town and just a parking lot. Coulter Bay Campground is really nice, heavily wooded, lots of deer and bear, about a 25 mile drive to the South Yellowstone entrance and the same from Jackson. BTW, it's a pretty drive on both the East and West sides of the Snake River valley to jackson. Grizzly is very nice, clean, well laid out and just a few miles from the West Entrance. If renting, I'd probably opt for a few days in Jackson, see the town and shop one day, spend another day or two doing the Tetons, then tunr in the rental, move to Grizzly, and base there for Yellowstone. In Yellowstone, don't bother looking for bears or wolves...just look for the people on the side of the raod with the big spotting scopes. They already found them
