Any recommendations for this area?...we're presently in Salt Lake City and will be there in a few days. We'll probably be needing a rental car unless we can get a site in the park itself, but we haven't attempted a reservation as yet. I've made some calls to a few rv parks and all are very expensive. Has anyone used or know of the Teton Valley RV Park in the Victor, Idaho area which isn't too far away. I will try and call them in the morning to see what they have to offer. Also wondering about the road between there and Jackson, Wy.

West Yellowstone has a couple of places to rent cars. I think one of them will even deliver it to your campsite.

We are at http://www.8004redrock.com/reservations.htmRed Rock RV Park Nice and quiet, albeit it is 22 miles from the west gate. If you could get a rental to drop off or hitch aride with some one into West Yellowstone, this would be the best location. Out away from the crowds. Check out their web site.

We rented from a rental company in West Yellowstone -- don't remember the name -- but they did deliver the car to our CG (West Yellowstone KOA). I wouldn't recommend the Jackson South KOA if you are planning on spending any time in Jackson -- stick with the higher rated private parks.

West Yellowstone or Jackson (at the airport) are your best bets for rental cars in the area. The road between Victor and Jackson is apparently quite a challenge - you do NOT want to do this in your MH.

I guess I'd say Victor wasn't "too far away" from Jackson/YNP by western standards, but it's a far piece by ours. I'd recommend staying closer. Yes, they're expensive - anything in/around Yellowstone is. I think you'd be quite a bit closer in Red Rock RV Park.

If your on a "cheap" vacation....your headed to the wrong place!!

Pay the freight at the Grizzly and just grit your teeth! ( You've been to the dentist before..) And when staying in Jackson...stay at the Virginian.. ( again...it just hurts for a little while).

There are others ..of course...and some may offer you a lot more than you need...but you can only chose from "whats there"

If you are looking to "dry camp" for a few days..let me know and I'll open up my PM's and send you some hot spots for dry camping.

I made up my mind to do just that and stay at the virginian...even rent a car when I need it, which might still work, but they say a rally is coming in and they're probably full. We'll just have to see how it goes when I check back. There's always the KOA,.... but one things for sure, I not hanging around for too many days at those prices.... and will hang back a ways until my cousins fly in to jackson rather than go in early. I can't park at their kids house, since they live in a restricted area.
Sully2 You might pm me the dry camp info, just in case.

Just don't come in or depart Jacksonhole to or from the west!! It's a 10% grade up and down for about 6 miles each way.
