Well, we are heading to Little Rock AR for 4th of July weekend. We are staying at the KOA. Does anyone have any suggestions for things we should do while we are there? We thought about going to the water park on the 4th and on the 5th we have a family reunion in the evening but other than that we are open to suggestions. Thanks for any input!
The Wild River Country is a fun little water park. Also check out the Clinton Presidential library. Love him or hate him its still educational covering 8 years of US history. While your down town check out the river market, fire works and band will be on the river for the 4 th and with the orchestra in the back ground is a good show. If you like baseball the Travelers are now in their new stadium. For family fun I'll take minor league over majors any day. KOA is a nice clean stay there and just a few blocks from the water park. Enjoy the Reunion.

Thanks for the info. I was concerned about the road noise especially since we are in a pup. I called and asked them to put us as far away from the road as they can so we will see if that helps. Luckily, when I camp I sleep like a baby and don't hear much once I am sleeping. Also, our air conditioner blocks out a lot of noise.
Have you ever stayed at this KOA before or just found it online or in the book? I don't want to rain on your trip, but my family and I drive by there at least once a week and I wouldn't stay there if it was the only CG within 50 miles. The street it is located on is full of strip/topless clubs; the park itself is full of people who seem to live there full time in their run-down shabby rusty campers; it was completely overgrown with weeds and brush the last time I drove by there (about 2 weeks ago); and the back of the CG is an interstate highway.
I don't have any financial interest in this park in any way or any other CG for that matter, so I have no motivation in urging you to find somewhere else to stay other than a desire to keep you from having an unfortunate moment when you drive up to the CG, but I do want this KOA to clean itself up! I would really hate for my family to end up at this KOA and no one warn me what it is really like. As I said, I cannot imagine staying here one night much less for a vacation and we stay in KOAs quite often.
There are a few options nearby, Maumelle Park is a park on the Arkansas River that is owned by the Corps of Engineers, it's extremely nice and probably less than 6 miles away. Toad Suck PArk, another COE park, is in Conway where I live, it's 35 miles to LR probably from here, and there are multiple parks in Hot Springs and the surrounding area that are very nice. I believe that Burns Park in LR might have campsites also, but I'm not sure.
If you would like to email me privately, I would be glad to talk to you!

We spent two nights there last year on our way to Kentucky. It is close to the Interstate and there is a topless club on the street you take to get to the park entrance. The road noise was not bad in our estimation. We did not check out the strip club so I cannot comment on it. I was not offended driving by it however.
The sites were a little close together. The pool was nice and it was close to the presidential library. There is a (or was last year) a great seafood restaurant close to the library; the shuttle bus dropped us off and picked us up after lunch. I don't know if I would want to stay there for a week but for a long weekend the park should be fine.

Thank you for all the input. I think at this time it would be too late to change campgrounds. I did call the KOA and they said that the strip club had in fact closed down. Even if it hasn't, driving past it doesn't offend me. As long as the people at the campground keep their clothes on I will be ok Hopefully it will not be too bad, and if it is I guess we will have to make the best of a bad situation.

Either a lot has changed in 6 months, or we came a different way, as we didn't notice any strip clubs, certainly none right by the CG. Yes, there were seasonals, and a few were old, but nothing we would regard as "trailer trash"-looking. We camped at this CG in late November in one of their cabins. Maybe there are more seasonals there now that the camping season is in full swing.
Hey, swing by Cold Stone Creamery on Chenal for some good ice cream. Tell manager Chris that his mom said HI!

On edit, there are now two IMAX theaters in LR. The one by the airport also has airplane exhibits and a cool theater (Can't think of what it is called) where you sit back in the darkened theater and they project the night sky and stars on the ceiling. My 11 yr. old son loved it.

We stayed at this KOA in April and thought it was a great park, friendly, clean and close to everything. We also didn't notice any strip club.
I second the Cold Stone Creamery, yummy!
