I emailed a camping buddy to see if we had any menu plans for our trip next weekend and she suggested a "progressive" dinner for Friday evening. I thought that sounded like a great idea! We'll all prepare part of the dinner and then "progress" to each individual campsite for that part of the dinner. Usually we "potluck" it, but I thought this sounded like it might be more fun and definately different and I wanted to share.
Of course this idea probably wouldn't work for large crowds, but we usually have 4-5 families camping together and it sounds like it would be a blast. I already have some great ideas. I'll let you know how it goes!

That does sound like fun! I'll be keeping my eyes open for the update. We typically do the pot luck thing too, but this could be even more fun.

In AZ we had a potluck every week or so and rotated the meat portion, then the others brought a side dish or bread and desert. It was fun and it sounds like yours will also, I'll have to remember it.

That sounds fun! I've been thinking about doing that when we go camping with a few couples.

we have done this at our regular houses for church.
appetizers and cocktails at one house
dinner at another
dessert and coffee at yet another.
It was really fun.
At a CG, you would benefit from not having to drive from house to house. You cold add a soup/salad course in between apps and main course.

we do it with our youth group around Christmas. We don't camp with anyone else but if we did, I'd love to try this.

We've done this with our card group. We double up the couples to have 2 couples serve app. and drinks (they decide who's house to serve from.) 2 couples to serve salad. 2 couples to serve main course and 2 couples to serve dessert and coffee. Each time they decide which house to serve from but both couples are resposible for the food and drink for their part of the progressive dinner. It is a nice way for all to enjoy. Believe me you don't get stuffed cause it takes a while to get from course to course. It is an evening of fun and fellowship. Enjoy ! ! !

There are 4 or 5 families this time and the schedule is something like thisIt's suggested we try Italian)
Site 1: Soup and Bread
Site 2: Salad and Bread
Site 3: Pasta course
Site 4: Pasta course
Site 5: Dessert

Right now I'm scheduled for a pasta course and I'm thinking a cold one as the other Pasta course has two really great hot dishes(hoping for one of those!).
Any way, trying to decide what kind of wine to serve with a cold chicken pasta salad.
