We're in town for tomorrow and were thinking of maybe touring some RV plants in the area. Nappanee, Goshen, etc. are in range too. Any suggestions?

Been through the Newmar plant, pretty impressive... but that was when we had a Newmar coach. still all in all worth a visit.

A few weeks ago, we toured the Monoco plant - only complaint is we felt rushed.

Also the RV Hall of Fame is defintely worth a visit - small fee.

There is also a huge Farmers Market in Elkhart area - don't miss the hot pretzels.

Try the Elkhart County visitors' bureau web site at
Visitor's Bureau

If you click on the "Vacation Planner" view now, you can view the book, including the maps. You can print out the maps of where the attractions are, etc.

Go over to Shipshawanna (sp?) east of Elkhart, since you will be there on a Wednesday, and enjoy one of the largest Flea Markets you will ever find. Lots of good eating also, many Amish and Mennonite folks selling home made foodstuffs.

Also, there are a couple of RV Surplus/Salvage places in town on hiway 19 that are fun to browse around in. I have found lots of pieces of hardware and misc stuff for cheap!

Enjoy!

Go over to Goshen, Indiana and visit the "Old Bag Factory." It's quit an interesting place. It an old Railroad Depot that been converted into a bunch of shops. We had a great time exploring there.

More information Click Here for Old Bag Facotry Web site.

If you are at the Elkhart Campground the office has a list of plant tours and times as well as other things to see and do (also list of the RV surplus dealers). I recommend the morning plant tour if they have one so you can see stuff being assembled by the workers. The afternoon tour starts just before quitting time. I thought the Monaco tour was good and the guides were quite knowledgable. (We went on the Monaco tour more than once and found it to be tailored somewhat to what the people were interested in.) For all tours the factory had one of every kind of coach they made there availabe for viewing.
