I think you mean Rancho Verde RV Park.

We just returned from a 10 day stay at that park. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer, cleaner park. The park ownwers are Bob & Chris Carpenter and they are great people. They are constantly working around the park to keep it in great condition.

This is not a RV Resort and they don't claim it is. I've been to a lot of parks that claim they are resorts and they are dumps.

There are 2 other RV parks in the area. One is Distant Drums. It is a resort but it is located about 100' from the Interstate. The other one is Zane Grey, which is about 8 miles from the Interstate. Rancho Verde is about 3 miles from the freeway. You sometimes hear the road noise - if the wind is right.

My choice was Rancho Verde. It is a great location for visiting Montezumas Castle, Fort Verde, Tuzigoot (must see), Jerome, Verde Canyon RR (must see), Out Of Africa (must see) and Sedona is a short 30 minute drive.

If you decide to stay at Rancho Verde, see if you can get space C5.

Check out www.rvparkreviews.com to confirm what I am saying. If you decide to stay there tell them Don Gillette, the guy with the cocker Spaniel and the big yellow Jeep, told you to call. Say hello to them for me.

I would not go to Rio Verde in Cottonwood. If you desire to stay in Cottonwood, check out Dead Horse Ranch State Park. You may be able to get a workkamping position there. The above posters recommendations for the Camp Verde area parks are right on!
