In the market for gravel guard for our MH. Any suggestions on which type or one to get. The unit that goes under tow bar between MH and Toad sounds good. Now I just read about Towtector which also looks good. So now I'm back to square one. Need some advice from the good old gang at the Forum again.
Thanks

We have a rear full width mud flap type gravel guard. It is pretty much worthless. Then we purchased the Protect-A-Tow gravel guard that attaches to the rear of the motorhome and the front of the toad under the tow bar. I think Blue OX has a version called the UnderSkirt. We have had zero damage since we switched to the Protect-A-Tow. I highly recommend it.

I do not see how the Towtector would be any better than a full width mud/gravel guard, which is useless, IMHO. The only one that offers true protection is the Protect-A-Tow.

Protect-A-Tow not only protects the toad it helps to keep the rear of the MH cleaner and the rear camera stays clearer when traveling in the rain. Do a search under Protect-A-tow & you well find dozens of very good reports about them.
The only negative I've ever seen about Protect-A-Tow is that rear exhaust DP will melt their fabric & therefore use is not recommended.

We returned from a 6400 mile trip in march And didn't,t notice my new HHR. was a mess. I have a full width mud flap across the rear of the coach but it is worthless. I got my protect a tow on Monday not going any place untell it is on my bus...KEEP IT ON 13...

Made a flat MH to toad skirt about 10 years ago. Replaced the rubberized fabric about 3 years ago. Put a conduit bolted (with longer bolts) under the Blue Ox hitch at the toad. There is a sewn loop for the rubberized skirt (made by an awning shop) to fit this conduit. Then there are 6 eyelets at the motorhome skirt end. Attached the skirt to the motorhome with very long bungie cords running thru pulleys to keep the skirt tight and allow for turning. Have used for 115,000 miles.
Works fine at protecting the toad and MH camera.
Also have a full width rubber flap across the rear of the MH.

We have the full mudflap across the back of the MH and still noticed slight chipping on the front of the Vue. I just ordered a Coastline tow shield for it.

My 1 year old protect-a-tow is falling apart. The bungee cord is now exposing the rubber band(if you will) and is becoming frayed. Now I have to figure out how to fix.
This is only after using for two trips to yellowstone last year (900 miles round trip) and just getting back from Yosemite last week is where I noticed this has occured. I don't think it likes a lot of twisty turny roads, which we encountered over highway 120 from Lee Vinng to highway 99- which is my guess why it's breaking
Good luck with your decision- but now I have to deal with it to find another solution a year later.
