Broke down and bought a new 2008 Sequoia a couple weeks back. Old Sequoia worked fine, but with the pricing on the new ones, just had to take the plunge. Someone has to stimulate our economy, right?Anyway, we have put 2000 miles on it so far and here are my takes on it.

Impressive power. Went up I-70 at 60mph, 5-6% for the first 4 miles and then 7% grade for 6 more miles, topping at 11,000' with power to spare. ( Thanks CM )

Smooth transmission. Hard to feel shift points under light accelleration.

Huge!

Interior plastic scratches easily.

Rear cameras make hitching up with the hensley easy as pie. Out-of-work 8-year old hates the truck, however. Good life lesson about job security to learn early.

Interesting hitch design. Has a second layer of steel around the reciever tube. The hole on the outer layer is a larger diameter. This keeps the angled hitch pin away from the inner hole, so the hitch pin no loner "wallows out" the hole. There is a little more play in the reciever, however. I like a nice, tight fit.

Independent rear suspension is nice and smooth around town, but a little bouncy hooked up. Looking into improved shocks/air bags.

Better mpg than my old Sequoia. 15.5 in town with AC. 16.5 w/o. 9.8 towing in the Colorado mountains with AC on. 19 on the highway.

19mpg for the big SUV is pretty impressive. Others have reported 14-15mpg for highway travel, but I suspect they were driving the far side of the speed limits. I bet the Sequoia could easily tow a 27-28 foot Jayco TT quite easily, actually negating the need for a big red diesel Chevy pickup

Titan is the same way. 65mph is th emagic number. Over that and you are burning gas to get there faster. Guess it all depends on arrival time vs gas bill!

So far, the highway has been 65 around the Denver highways. Taking a trip to Albuquerque w/o trailer in a few weeks. Should have good numbers of what 75 with luggage and AC does.

My Sequoia is 4wd. The trailer I pull is #4550 dry and #5500 loaded. The trailer is 28' tongue to tail. It is rated for 9600# +/-with the tow package, big engine, and the 4.3 rear end. You can get a 2wd that will pull 10000#. The limiting factor is the payload. My tongue weight is around 650#, about 450# remains on the truck with the WD hitch. That only leaves me 800# for my family. If you really tried to pull a 10000# rv, you would have to be a solo driver. I would think that 30' and 7000# is probably a realistic limit for the truck for an average family.

Thanks for the report.

The new Sequoia was top of my list. I pull a 7200-lb (current loaded weight) 31-foot TT, though. After waiting out the arrival of the 1st 08s, I was afraid the rear suspension would limit me too much. Your report confirms my suspicions.

I'll never see 19MPGs or that 1/2-ton ride (see sign.), although the Yukon does ride better than expected.

My best trip was 17MPG at 55MPH during the break in period. We're towing with it for the first time soon. Its a short trip with mainly side roads, so I wont get a good idea of how it will do on the four lanes.
