The tent sites are under construction right now. Looks like they will be nice though. You can put a tent on the concrete but not on the grass. They have a sprinkler system on each site.
I saw 1 little garden snake while we were there last week and that was it. Lots of little beach mice at the campsites.

Navarre Beach Campground has some nice tent sites. A little off topic but if you were looking for something in that area.....

And there are many large snakes waiting in the north bound lanes when leaving Florida at the northern borders of the state. They will only harm Florida residents though who are trying to get away from the heat.

You cannot fool us.

I've been in those lanes many times, and I've never seen such a beast, even when stopping at rest areas!

Seriously, though, I did see a gator once on a southbound I-95 lane in Florida.

It's a bit of a joke, as Topsail is so popular, it can be difficult to get a site, and then there have been many posts asking about the creatures at Topsail. All in good fun.

It is a state park area with the land around it intact, so while the snakes aren't hanging from trees and curled around every lamp post, you should heed the advice given to you by people who know the area. If you see a snake and you aren't sure of it's threat, call the rangers for assistance.

The brochure we were given said no tents or screen rooms. We did seem free standing awnings setup on the concrete pads.

You folks in FL keep talking about all these snakes and you'll start losing all that tourism money and end up paying state income taxes

Topsail is a preserve so nothing is killed there. If you see a snake, contact a ranger and they will come and pic it up. They transport them off to the far side of the park and release them there. Number one son and I were out in the far western part of the park looking for a geocache and ran across a ranger who told us to be very careful as we were in the area where they release a lot of the snakes.

One of the more commom snakes there is the pigmy rattlesnake and you will see signs about it. Not deadly but will give you a bad bite. The have your typical garter snakes which I have just picked up and moved off the road etc before but also have copperheads etc.
