What is Hwy 160 like from Walsenburg to South Fork and
Hwy 149 from South Fork to Creede?

Thanks.

160 to the top of La Veta pass is a 25 mile 3% grade to an elevation of about 9500 feet. From there it's a downgrade of 1% for 45 miles or so to Alamosa.

From Alamosa it is fairly flat, but a gentle grade all the way to Creede.

The roads themselves are nice highways, two lane with climb lanes on La Veta Pass.

Nothing to add to NGRRFan's description.
However, if you get a little further up the road between Creede and Lake City, you're going to get into some pretty good size hills.

Don't blink going over North LaVeta Pass, else you'll never see it.

I use a Topo mapping program to calculate how the road elevation is. You are right about the pass summit. One of the easiest to miss as it is basically flat.
