My daughter fell out of our popup when she was 2 years old. She fell out onto the asphalt. We woke up to her crying outside the trailer! She wasn't hurt but she sure was scared. She is 12 now and has no lasting trauma. She sleeps in the bunkends with no problems.
Good luck to you!

Wow I am sorry to hear that, sometimes us as parents feel worse than the child does. When my DD was younger we had a Jayco PUP with Velcro. I kept her on the inside and she slept on the u-shaped dinette every night as I had the fear of her falling. One summer We met a couple that took 2 toddler bed rails and had 1 on the inside and 1 on the outside against the canvas of the bed. Great idea, It was added security for them. I still have my DD sleeping on the couch, lol. I use the excuse my older DD took up to much room in the bed. Enjoy your new TT.
The outdoors is a wonderful place to be....

(I don’t have children but I have three small dogs)
When my boyfriend and I started looking at PUPs last winter I would always look at the bunk ends to see how secure they were. One time when my family was camping we had four 3 month old puppies with us (they bred OESD at the time), all four got out one night and the four of us (Mom, Dad Sister and I) we out in our PJ’s at 3 in the morning roaming around the CG looking for the dogs. All four came back to us safe and sound.
I think I recall getting a Shasta TT the next weekend.
(Really it was my parents own fault – who takes four puppies, two full grown dogs and two kids under ten camping in an 10 foot tent trailer??? They were asking for trouble).

First of all I'm glad to hear everyone ended up okay
It's crazy to hear that this stuff could even happen. you would think when the manufacturer builds these HTT's they would make sure stuff like this doesnt happen.
Our 2007 Coyote is built in a way that I do not think that could happen. Ours are snapped on all three sides under the beds and then velcro'd on all three sides and then the outer cover pulls over.
Maybe over the years they are better now and its older campers that we hear these stories on.

I have a coyote 22CT 2007 and it has Velcro as well as snaps.
I hope that would hold the kids or even me in since the DW makes me sleep against the end.
I would sure hate to have this happen to anyone.

BootyHunter, I hope your son is feeling better!
We have two young DD's. When we were looking for a new camper we saw a Cub and really liked it, but I was nervous about there being only velcro around the bunk ends. Our dealer offered to add snaps around the three sides on each bunk. It's now super tight and I have no worries.
If anyone out there has kids (or dogs ) and is concerned about velcro-only, I would suggest checking to see if snaps can be added.

Glad your little one is okay. Our Palomino tenting is permanently attached to the bunk at the end. Also, the 2 sides have double velcro: one strip on a flap that wraps under the mattress & attaches to the platform and then the 2nd strip that attaches to the exterior edge of the bunk.
We also have interior bunk beds in the trailer & I do worry about my son up top falling out. He sleep walks, but so far has managed the climb without taking a tumble.

It doesn't have to be a TT or HTT either... my daughter was 8 or 9 when she was inside our Bayside Popup, and somehow tripped and fell out through the bottom half of the front door, busting out the door panel and tumbling down the step onto the mat outside. She was fine - more startled than hurt - as were the rest of us who were sitting outside when it happened. And putting that panel back in the door was sure a challenge!
