I've been following this thread for the past couple of weeks and to be honest I haven't seen that many 'biting' bugs either at home on the south shore from Montreal nor at our seasonal site in the northern Adirondacks. If I had to gauge it I'm say the level of bugs is down quite a bit.

Mosquitos in Northwest Ontario have capitalized on a wet spring - they've taken the opportunity to structure vastly increased numbers into military units and have enlisted battle strategists whose mission has been to ensure sustained and unrelenting attacks - worse yet - they have developed new and formal alliances with wood ticks, black flies, sand flies, deer flies and now horseflies. The human population is putting up a valiant struggle but we are weakening - there is a need for some new blood to help out with the fight ..... any volunteers??

I have to tell you that this year, in the Yukon, they're as bad as ever. Likely worse ... work crews in the bush are having a terrible time. It is damper than normal though, and that is possibly why.

I'm in North Pole, AK right now, and just spent quite some time outside at Santaland RV Park. Didn't see a one. Pretty nice actually...

Yesterday I could hear one coming in for a landing. As this Mosquito didn’t have clearance to land it was brought down by local ground forces. Later you could see the wreckage all over the landing area. The aircraft was un-distinguishable, and was totally destroyed.
I had to go and wash my arm off after.

Well I started this post before my tent camping trip through out the state. We have been camping for a little over 2 weeks and found that the interior is the worst for mosquitos. Denali was bad we put up the screen room so was chena hot springs. Denali hwy tangle lakes area and the vladez glacier campground needed deet spray. Not bad areas have been near the coast like seward, homer and russian river. Russian river was thick with the bears though. Much scarier than mosquitos! Have fun and camp

They are thick in my front yard tonight. Cool and damp with no breeze.

I just got back from British Columbia after two weeks on the Shuswap Lake and I found the mosquitoes were really not bad this year, but when I got back to Calgary they were waiting in my backyard.
