The commericals are stupid. Most truck commericals are now days.
My favorite one is when they stop an airplane with a pickup.
That was a cool commercial. Unrealistic but cool.

We have been very happy with the truck. 20,000 miles and not one problem.

All the manufacturers stretch the truth, that is called advertising. While the Tundra may not be a monster truck, I think it is turning out to be a very well built, powerful, comfortable truck that meets the needs of 99.9% of pickup owners. I got to stop by the Toyota dealer today to pick up a part for the Matrix so I will ask the service writer about the Tundras transmissionn problems, he will know, they sell a lot of the trucks. First time I heard of the issue.
Of course my great Ford is suppose to be a flame thrower and I seemed to have missed that, too.
I didn't hear about these troubles, either, until the last time I stopped by the dealership with my GMC truck...they are Toyota/GMC/Pontiac/Buick dealers. The service writter had about 4 of them in there and said they were all tranny trouble trucks with people trying to pull what the ads claimed, from heavy horse trailers to pretty large TTs. Could just be that these rednecks think they can overdo them and not a real issue, but it's interesting, to say the least.

Go ahead and tow a train with your GMC and let's see how well the tranny does!! This thread is going nowhere....make it interesting...everybody knows ALL mfg commercials stretch the truth..

Toyota is no exception to stretching the truth, but as alway 1/2 trucks are pretenders in the full size truck category, yes they can pull popups and small boats and trailers, but thats where it stops. They have there place. If you have one and want to tow bigger you are in trouble, but like alot of rver's they are out towing way over there capacity with 1/2, 3/4 , 1 tons

lets face it ! The japs are good at small things and americans are superior at big things..period! that applies to generators, motors, trucks, heavy machinary.the honda/yamaha are the best, but get into the big boys its cat, onan, cummings, ect.everything they do is on a small but efficient scale.us on the other hand are the opposite, bigger, heavier, less effiecient,

I would have to assume that I am wasting my time by pulling a 27' trailer then, as it can't possibly do it and I should run down and trade it off for a pop-up. Rest assured..I have seen every other half-ton truck dragging around trailers WAAYY bigger than mine, and I say nothing about it. I will look into that trade in right away...

And rsh_757...if you have the time to troll threads all day waiting to chime in when a Tundra one pops up...you have the time to do your pull off and show the world you can win. I can't wait for the Youtube video...good gravy....

Isuzu is not doing well at all, they are gonna stop making their trucks if they haven't already done so. Once the inventory is gone, thats it.

Now Suzuki on the other hand, is actually working on releasing what they call a 'mid-sized' truck for the 09 year. Dubbed the Equator. Guess its a joint venture with Nissan, and will be similar to the Frontier. Looks like it will be out Q4 of 2008. Built in Smyrna, TN, with either a 2.5L I4 or the 4.0L V6.

Dont be cross. I dont have time to "TROLL" threads all day. Just because you don't like what I have to say doesn't make me a "troll".

You have seen all the Toyota of Bellevue you tube videos, they are stupid and run by complete idiots. I just wanted those who point to them as some sort of feat to have a view of what that place is really about. I don't plan on having any "pull-off" they surely wouldn't do it against anything that was actually trying anyways. It would just ruin trucks and probably did anyways. How'd you like to be the guy who bought the truck used in their second-rate contest? That is shady business and they should be called on it.

I have an 08 Tundra it may not be the heavy hauler of my 00 psd 350 but it sure is really nice all the way around. If you are towing real heavy then get a 3/4 or a 1ton I thought I needed the big truck but I never really got to use it for the heavy haul or pull that often. The Tundra works really well for me.The fuel economy is good and more then enough power. The only laugh is the person who bought the wrong truck and never use it for what it was made for .Which was me.
