I did a search here and didn't really find what I was looking for.

From what I've read there area a couple of areas, one is fairly open and the other has more vegetation/privacy? Does anyone have a favorite site for this park? Pictures would be great too!

Thanks

I go down to Hunting Island SP many times a year. What size rig are you camping in?

My husband and I are going down this year for the first time. We wanted more privacy so we picked site 97. I was told it was more woods around. We are heading down the last week of September had our site booked in May. I hope you have a great time! When are you going? We are really looking forward to it. We are saving our pennies I guess I should say dollars even if gas prices are high.

We're trying for mid September. Our motor home is due it's yearly service in Gaffney, SC. So I thought we just might make a long weekend out of the service appointment and continue onto Huntington Beach.

TQ..just to be sure; you are talking about Hunting Island, not Huntington Beach? All the previous answers were aimed at Hunting Island.

There is Hunting Island State Park near Beaufort and Huntington Beach State Park near Myrtle Beach. Both are very nice, but different. Probably more larger spots in Huntington Beach SP.
Good luck,

Yea my mistake, I meant Huntington Beach, SC. I've corrected the title of this post.

Thanks for pointing that out.

OK.. we just got back from a long weekend there.. our first trip since Bluewater Key. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the campground area since we go there on a somewhat regular basis. Sites 103 through 132 are on a wooded loop. This was added a few years ago. The original campground is sites 1 through 102. The sites on the newer loop are carved out of the woods and therefore are very private and can be a little narrow. The original sites are more open, some with trees, and usually have plenty of room. There are actually about 15-20 sites in the old area that are full hookups, but they are always booked well in advance. The web site shows the max length for RVs for each individual site, just pay attention to that and you'll be ok. Here is a satellite pic I just pulled from Google maps. You can see the wooded loop on the upper left side of the picture.

The good news is they recently paved all the roads inside the campground, so no more white sand dust every time a car goes by. Also there is a nice 3 station dump station so very little waiting on the way out.

This is a nice park with a lot to do other than the beach and campground. Nature programs, plenty of fishing, and you can walk all the way down to the Murrells Inlet Jetty, about a mile from the campground, the Atlaya "castle" and Brookgreen Gardens right across hwy 17 from the state park.
I do have some other pictures from the park in the link in the signature below. Hope this helps.
