Don't know if I have posted this before but we were trying to find a harness/leash which wouldn't leave cuts/scars on our chihuahua.
Several months ago in at PetCo or Petsmart we located a "Daisy" harness/leash combo, we cut the leash part off the swivel on the top of the harness. this allowed us to attach the Flexi onto the harness when we walk her.
We spent 6 months trying to find a harness/leash combo and wanted to pass this on to others who may be looking for a harness without exposed edges which would cut into the skin of short-haired small dogs.

I don't know if these would work for you, but we have gotten some really cute halter-dresses from this site. She also makes halter vests, which would work for boy dogs. They are fastened with Velcro, are easy to put on/take off, and can be found with different fabrics. She will also make matching leashes....

The quality is exceptional!! And her prices are good too!

All the nylon collars and harness have a rough usually burnt edge that they always 'turn in towards the dog'.
It can and does rub the dog and can be very uncomfortable for the short hair breeds. Just run your finger under these to see just how nasty they can be.
Just TRY and find one at the box stores that has the edge turned outward.
There are few collar companies that understand this, but you usually see them at dog events. and there are also a few websites where they cover the collars with plain fabric and make sure to turn the edges out where the buckle attaches. My nieces chihauhau's found relief with that company!
I'll try and find my links to these companies

Our little dogs, 6 and 12 lbs, have worn these harnesses for years. They started out being made for Doxies but are now made for all size dogs. Poquita and Rosie each have a mesh one for summer and fleece lined nylon versions for cold weather. The harnesses clip onto seat belts for travel and then to leashes when we go for walks. So many people have asked about them that I now carry brochures and hand them out. Hug-A-Dog Harness Note that Poquita's picture is in their gallery of happy customers. She's had her harness for five years, worn it coast to coast and it has never even needed repair.

There's a guy on ebay who'll make a sturdy leather harness to your pet's measurements. He made my cat's harness. The cat kept shredding the nylon ones.

Some of those harnesses are very cute!! I bet they would work well with a small dog and have them looking quite stylish.

Thank you for that link!
Those look very comfortable for the dog and no nasty ends to rub them. I like the web fabric so they don't get hot in summer.
And of course your dog Poquita looks very happy wearing one.
