When we were camping last weekend, we watched the guy next to us pull in and get set up. When he was done, he took off the hitch connected to his truck, but it back on the ball and locked it there(so it just kind of hung there).

I'd never seen anyone do that, but in terms of theft prevention, what do you all think of that, or what do you to with yours when you get all settled in?

We usually tuck it out of the way behind the jack, which isn't the most secure way (but neither is just leaving it on the truck....). I'd be interested to know what everyone else does!

Thanks!

I have a locking hitch pin, so I just leave it in the receiver. It only took me "several" times to figger out to walk wide around the back of the truck!

If we are not leaving the camp ground, then it stays on the truck. If we do day trips or we are in one place for more then a weekend, then I usually take it off and store it in the front compartment. Both options are not very secure but I haven't had a problem yet. Hope it stays that way.

Just what you saw that guy do. Hang the Equalizer by the ball, rest the arms on the brackets, put on the hitch lock, put on the receiver lock and cover the receiver shank with a pylon.

Unless I plan on being there for several days and doing a lot of side trips, I leave the drawbar in the receiver and put a plastic grocery bag over it to prevent accidental grease on clothes problems. If I need to stow the WD bars and the drawbar I put them in the Van right up close to the driver's side seat and tie them to the driver's seat pedestal to cut down on the projectile issue if something happens.

Front storage under our bed.
I put a piece of cardboard down to keep the grease off the trailer.

I put mine in one of the many compartments that are under the trailer.
We didn't realize what a bonus all those compartments are on our Pioneer until we just started looking at new trailers.
We looked at a couple of other brands, and each of them which were larger than ours only had two compartments versus our three, and our big one was at least three times the size of the other ones biggest.

When we had a TT I left it in the receiver. Never saw a reason to remove it.

It goes in the bed of the TV, which has a locking tailgate and topper.
