Hi -

After some serious conversations and watching the economy we have decided that since most dealers/manuf. are offering huge discounts on 5th wheels - now was the time to jump ship form the TT forum. Our local Crossroads dealer, Trafford's RV of Conway NH has made a really attractive offer for our Sunnybrook and on a ordered Cruiser.

We are ordering a 2009 Crossroads Cruiser 31SB on Saturday, our first 5th wheel. With the camper we have ordered a Reese 16K round tube slider hitch P/N 30075. Here's the question -

Does anyone with a new style GM HD have pictures of where/how/etc. the hitch installs in the new body style? I would like some pictures of what a proper setup looks like in the new style trucks. So show me those pictures! Also, I'm having a hard time finding the kit to install the hitch in the new body style GM HD's.

Also, any advice to a new owner besides the basics? We have been RV'ing for about 5 years now so we are NOT totally green horn's but we are green horn's to 5th wheels.

Not sure about issues/layout of a new GM, but 5th wheel hitch is bolted to frame and make sure it is over your axle. I to have short bed w/ slider. GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY YOU 5TH. There great.

Why not get the dealer to throw in the installation of the hitch?

They are taking care of the install. I'm just anal and I want to know what "should" go on my truck and "where" it shoul be...

I guess it's the QA side of my profession coming out in me!!!

I would download the installation instructions. They are very specific for each model of truck. I just installed a Reese/Draw tite slider in my dad's 2002 Dodge 1500 and the instructions were right on the money. Just be sure the dealer followed the instructions.

Thanks for the posts about the hitch - Reese provided me with the P/N's - they have a universal and now a specific bracket for the new GM HD's.

I went in Saturday and ordered a 2009 Cruiser 31SB as we wanted it. We are anxious and I guess they are busy enough that it will take 8 weeks with a delivery late August. Our dealer, Traffords RV in Conway, NH offered us a good deal and I am pleased with the % off MSRP and the dealership experience.

Thanks again - I am sure I will have some questions!

New style GM trucks are no different than old style GM trucks. A lot of things were changed, but not the frame and mounting points that you would use. The only exception might be if you ordered the integrated brake controller. The control circuit box has to be relocated with a number of hitches as they bolt to the frame in that area.

Thanks - which control circuit is this that needs to be moved? Someone else mentioned this but were vague.
