Hi Gang,

I just made reservations at a local campground and the only site available had a special note "15 amp service only!".

I have run my RV air at home on a receptacle with a 20 amp circuit breaker many times and I can hold about 110 volts. I know a lot of factors at the campground are involved as to whether it will work or not but I am just wondering if everything was perfect, would a 15 amp circuit breaker carry the load from an A/C drawing 13.5 to 14 amps. I am thinking it might, but still might pop the breaker on startup, or might bring the volt reading down below an acceptable level. I have a month before the reservation so I have time.

Any thoughts? Thanks, Gary

Probably not unless you can completely eleminate any other phantom or non-phantom draws.

it all depends on campground electric quality. 15 amps is really pushing it. let me know if it works. and bring a geny just incase.

When I originally wired my rv electrical post in the backyard, I put in a 15 Amp breaker. It did well until we turned the A/C on. It would trip the breaker all the time. So I went to a 20 Amp breaker no more tripping. So, I think you will have problems.

Probably but you can not have anything else on, not even the converter.

I don't believe I would stake my comfort on the average 15amp CG service.

I believe the campground would not be to happy with you if you tried.

More than likely you won't have a problem if you shut everything else off, make sure fridge is on propane, turn off the converter etc. We have done it a few times before without incident. Make sure you have a solid 110 volts from the source. Not sure why a campground would care unless the breaker blows and needs to be reset a lot.

Even if the 15 amp breaker doesn't trip, like John & Angela, I'd be concerned about low voltage.

As long as everyone is not on the same feed running the air the voltage might be OK. You may need to let the converter run for a while to get the battery at 100% before you turn on the air. And you could just run on battery power so only the air was pulling from the 15 amp connector. Definately bring your volt meter.
