Narrowing my Toy Hauler search down to a Jayco Octane ZX (26Y) vs a Forest River Wildwood XL Lite Toy hauler (T27FBSRV). Appreciate any and all comments on quality, etc. Currently have a Jayco BH22, so familiar with their products, but have no knowledge/experience with Forest River products.

We recently purchased a FR product-Wolfpack toyhauler. We liked overall design and layout, and cost compared to others. Lots of little stuff missed by manuf. and subsequent dealer pdi. We hope FR will take care of properly, but weren't impressed with FR corporate attitude when they contacted me twice to say they couldn't send a seat back, which the dealer promised FR would send without a problem. Said I had to return to dealer, that was their policy! The dealer is 6 hrs. away! Sounds like an uncompromising crock to me, especially over a small matter I could install, and they would have a happy customer, but instead, a problem which I am obligated to report upon to interested buyers! On the positive side, we are enjoying the unit, have had very few additional problems so far, and I would recommend the quality of this FR product. Good luck on your selection!

penokee, I closed the other double post, there is one post on that thread you may wish to read before the thread falls of the first page. Sometimes the server will glitch causing a double post.

We were in the same boat as you, and chose the Octane T26Y

We noticed that there were differences between the two that steered us towards the octane. Be sure to talk them down... they can drop quite a bit off the sticker price.

Good luck!!

Jayco makes very solid products. Can't go wrong with a Jayco if you are willing to spend the extra dollars.

Thanks for all the comments. I was leaning towards the Jayco Octane, and that's the way I plan to go.

We bought our Jayco Octane 24Z last September and we LOVE it. Ours came fully loaded so we have everything at a GOOD price.

I have a 19 W Octane and mine was made on a Friday. It had several deficiencies that were found on the first couple of uses. It was the last one on the lot so the price point was good compared to other models. I just question the quality control at Jayco. My bed broke the first time it was used. Took it in for warranty and then got a call saying Jayco may or may not warranty the bed. They ended up warrantying it. The bed had poor lumber used in it, full of knots. Also the wiring for the air conditioning had a screw but put through it.

I was just serprised at the amount of defects, as this was my first RV and I was told how well made they were.

Researched many TH's in the NE and went with the 2007 Octane 26Y. Had an issue with the axles being bent (toe-in)and burning up tires on a trip to FL but dealer replaced them and the tires under warranty. After the fix, went from Boston to DC and back with no issues. We have over $25K in Harleys in the back and wanted a quality trailer to haul them. Overall, for a trailer in the low-mid $20K's, We went with the Octane. Despite the issues we had on the FL trip (which was a real nail-biter), we still like the Octane. Much of our comfort level with the purchase also comes from having a great dealer (Forrest Marine and RV-Tyngsborough, MA) who rectified the warranty issue in short time and had us back on the road!

Good luck in your choice!
