Yup! They stripped my drain plug in my previous truck (Dodge CTD). Either do it myself now or take it to the dealer where I bought it. No more "quick" lubes!

My dh does all of our oil changes. Mostly because I refuse to pay $30 for a $15 oil change, just because it supposedly includes a however-many-point-inspection, which I don't trust either. My dh and I keep tabs on all our own fluid levels, brake condition, hoses, etc, anyway, and he does 95% of our vehicle repairs.

18 years ago I took my first new car - a Toyota to a Jiffy Lube (I was in college and was trying to save some $$$).
The next day, I had oil in the driveway.
Off to the dealer (it was a new car - new car warranty)
Turns out they didn't have the right oil filter for the car and mickey moused one they did have giving me an oil leak.
Had them do an oil change and it was fine after that. I paid for 2 oil changes trying to save some money. I went back to the Jiffy Lube with the wrong filter and did get my money back after quite a bit complaining (basically started talking really loudly about how they almost messed up my new car and i'd stand out there with a sign if I didn't get my money back).
Now....cars go to the dealer for an oil change.

When we lived in an apartment, I used to take it to the dealer or a Jiff Lube. When we moved into a house and I had the space, I did the oil changes myself. I tried the local Jiffy Lube and got tired of the "up selling" they did. When the tech would enter the waiting room, you knew he was going to try and sell you something. I would tell him no before he would open his mouth. The last straw was when the invoice showed there were sealed grease fittings.(there are at least 10 zerks on my old truck) I had them take it back in and grease it. Back to doing it myself and probably will as long as I can physically crawl under the truck.

After reading this entire thread, I want to add the following;
Some newer vehicles with aluminum oil pans are very prone to drain plug problems. The only way to prolong the life of the plug is to always use a torque wrench to tighten them properly without overtightening. The threads are very weak and wear out quickly as well as stripping very easily.
One of my vehicles is a 1999 Caravan with a 4 cyl that I purchased used with 40,000 miles on it. The first time I went to have the oil changed at a local shop I trust, they discovered a stripped drain plug. I had to replace the oil pan. The dealer kept them in stock and told me that this was very common. I have since spoken with numerous mechanics (in my business it is a daily occurance) about this problem and have learned that several other vehicles have this problem. In fact we carry a drain plug repair kit with inserts to deal with just this problem.
It is easy to blame the person that discovers the problem, but it may have been something that occurred over time, or at the last change, either is possible. You really don't think of a drain plug or the threads in the oil pan wearing out, but they do..

RandACampin wrote in regular font: Couple of questions to the OP traxtermax reply is in bold:
1. What is an "emergency oil change"? Geeze, I didn’t want to write any more than I had to. I wasn’t paying attention to the mileage and it was around 5k. At the time I was traveling and it was convenient for me to change it as described. Normally I live in an area where I have to drive a fair distance to obtain such services and normally save those long trips for all day errands too.
2. Whats with the "factory sealed oil in quart containers"? I didn’t want them to use bulk oil of unknown brand or quality.
3. Why post it here? Why not? It’s the RVNet and I think it’s in the proper category. Shouldn't you be talking to Jiffy Lube? For what? Negotiate what with a bunch of numb nuts? I got the oil changed, they didn’t charge me for the stripped plug, they put my filter on and it doesn’t leak. My oil change cost the better part of an hour and would have cost another to make a weak-to-nonexistent argument. What would they do for the unnecessary time it took to change my oil? Give me a free coupon for the next oil change? It was time to cut and run, and I did.
I take mine to the dealer, it has formed a relationship that has paid off, I am well taken care of by them. Unless its my beater truck then I do it myself and pour the oil on the burn pile. Why don’t you dispose of it properly?

I haven't used Quicky oil change places, but will tell you how to beat the stripped oil pan bolt. Fumoto oil valve. Thread one into your pan & oil changes become a little easier. IMHO

I've used quick change oil places twice- both times due to time restraints, like you.
The first time they smashed the fender of my dually, the second time they overfilled by a quart (two different places 1500 miles apart).
