This is a mystery. If I turn on my pump when hooked up to city water it does not run. I guess thats okay cause the system is pressurized. When I turn off the city water the pump immediatly comes on and stays on. I do get water to the faucets and everything. I think it should pressurize the system and shut off. It continues to run. I cannot find a leak anywhere. Where is the water going? I have already replaced the pump because a service man said the pressure switch may be bad. I traced the lines and cannot find a leak anywhere.

You may need to prime the pump to get it to pull the water from your fresh water tank. If it runs continously I would say it is not a matter of where the water is going, but why isn't it drawing any up from the tank. I had this problem once. I disconnected the outlet hose from the pump. When I then ran the pump it picked up the water and was OK after I reconnected the outlet hose. The problem was that in the short period when I ran the pump it dumped about a half gallon of water on the floor!

Did you fill your freshwater tank? The pump is only for drawing water from the freshwater tank and if it is empty, the pump will continue to run. Just my thoughts anyway.

You have air in the lines, purge the air and it will be fine. With low water in the tank and moving around this sometime happens and the pump will keep running and deliver water at low pressure.

We have had what you describe a few times and purging the air worked.

Here is my problem, I am trying to get my new Jayco Eagle ready for holidays next week and in the last few days I purged my anti-freeze using city water hook-up, I then to-day filled my water tanks, open my hot water heater and added a couple of ounces of beach to sanitize. I then turned on my pump and it sounded like a tank starting up and when I turned on a tap I had water and of course air coming through but not a full stream of water. The pump did shut off which tells me I have no leaks but when it kicks back on after I open a tap the pump again comes on loud as hell and very low flow.

I then called my dealer and they tell me that I might have air getting into my system, which I find strange as the pump does turn off. I asked to drive it by for them to have a quick look and they informed me that I could make an appointment next Sept. and further stated that I waited too long to de-winterize. I did not know there was a best before date for performing this function. I will deal with Jayco and lodge a complaint on Monday, but in the meantime has anyone had this problem or might have an idea? Sorry for long post as I am not a happy camper right now.

Waited too long to de-winterize? that's a riot, I would find a new dealer, obviously they are trying to blow you off, complaining to the manufacturer is the way to go.

My guess is air is getting through the winterizing valve. Either a bad valve, had that happen to me once, or you have neglected to turn it the right direction. Easy way to check is to insert the winterizing hose in a bucket of water and see if it draws it out.

I will give it a better look. I did think of that line but it seemed closed to me but you could be right. Thanks to all that responded, and yes I intend to complain to Jayco on Monday.

do you have the same problem with hot water and cold water from the tap? have you opened the hot water heater bypass? maybe the hot water heater is full of air? you can burp the hot water heat using the pressure relief valve. just thinking outside the box???
