We are in Iowa right now and the misquitos are in abundance due to all the flooding. Other than getting out of here and moving on does anyone know of a good repellent or good tried and ture home remedy to keep these buggers from biting us? Or something to spray around the rv on the outside. Somehow the little tiny ones keep finding ways into the trailer.

We have been using Listerine mouth wash on the deck with pretty good success

I have also heard several people brag about Listerine. DW put some in a spray bottle but have not had a chance to use it yet.

the very best repellent is a 50/50 mix of avon sss skin so soft and alcohol mix put in spray bottle and the only bites you will get is where you DIDNT spray

Do you use full strength Listerine or dilute it ? Do you just put it in a spray bottle ? I'd love a non chemical way to keep the skeeters away - I'm in Iowa too !!

You can also try the GEO Methode, as the Indians did before the colonist invaded there home land. Bear grease, about 1/4" thick. they can't move there little feet and weights down there wings. Also by fall the grease will harden up enough and you know have a Misquito coat good till spring, when you reapply. Good Luck, Bill

Another vote for Skin So Soft - good to have on hand and also helps repel ticks and chiggers.
By the way, some local environmental types are saying the skeeter population should drop significantly in a week or two. They call this current spike in mosquitoes a "post-flood bloom" - I guess you need to be a Cy-clown (Iowa State) graduate to master the obvious and coin dumb phrases like that!
Yep, lots of standing water = lots of skeeters. Duh.
