I will give the bleaching solution a try and I have been considering a filter on the kitchen sink water supply anyway, so I will do that also.

What about using an EXTERIOR WATER FILTER similar to this?? Sanitize your freshwater tank and waterhose (put a little bleach in the hose - then flush it), and then install the water filter. That will stop everything before it gets inside.

Get yourself an undercounter filter like this one.

There are several companies that meke them. Or go to Lowes or Home Depot and pick one up

If it's listed in the Yellow Pages, the government shouldn't be messing around with it.

Put 'TastePure' in your tank every time you fill it up. Our Walmart has it and it works. I use the liquid that comes in a plastic bottle.

From one competetive shooter to another, We put a PUR filter on our kitchen faucet(bought it at COSTCO) I also filter the water on the way into the tank but I believe most of the taste/smell is in the RV. This is the first trailer we have had the Plastic taste smell in. The filters make sweet ice for my cocktail after shooting also.....Hold center!

The plastic taste come from the polyethylene or polypropylene water tank (not the PEX tubing which is food grade plastic). These plastics are KNOWN for imparting a plastic taste into water. It will hang around for the first year or so you have your RV (provided you use it more than a few times a year).

I used a PUR faucet mounted filter to cope with the taste for the first year. Flushed and sanitized the tank often with bleach. Now, in my second year, I don't need anything, the plastic taste is gone, even when using new "Wal-Mart" hoses.

Thanks for all the feedback! Special thanks to Mousefart for confirming I am not insane.

I am going to look into the under counter filters. I cant use the faucet mounted filter with the faucet we have in the kitchen because of the design of the faucet (and SWMBO would kill me if I change the faucet) D&M - thanks for the link!
