Does anyone use nitrogen instead of air? Other than lasting longer in the tire are there any advantages.

I suggest you do a search for other postings. This has been discussed extensively.

If the advantages are like cars, which are they will run cooler with the nitrogen, they will maintain a more consistant pressure. The disadvantages is you cannot refill with compressor air. They need to maintain at least 70% nitrogen.

and after reading all the posts and listening to logic on both sides, my personal opinion is that it is a way of tire shops to separate you from your money.

As posted above, you have to maintain 70% nitrogen. I thought the air you breath is about 78%. Guess my tires are already there.

I had new truck tires put on about a year ago by Dunn Tire, which uses nitrogen on their tire installations. I have not had to top off at all and stopped doing my weekly pressure test - now every two months. They check the pressure during rotations and top off if necessary. So I guess by not driving on under inflated tires, you will get better gas mileage.

nascar has been using nitrogen for years, we now have a nitrogen machine at our dealership, nitrogen molecules are larger, therefore you will not lose air as fast, for every 10 degrees of temp change, you lose 1 pound of air pressure in your tires, now with nitrogen it is signifigantly less than that, the problem is that people never check the air pressure in their tires, now if you are not going to do that on a regular basis, i would run nitrogen, and it only costs like 10 bucks to put in, dont be so damn cheap, how much is your life worth?

Only because we get our tires at Costco. I don't notice a bit of difference with the nitrogen though.
