DH wanted me to ask if anyone here has been on I-35N toll road from Wichita to Topeka. If so, is the road decent, what can we expect and btw...what's the toll fee?
Very good shape. I went south through there last summer with my 35 foot fifth wheel in tow.
I can not recall the toll charge, but it was nothing major. I want to say less than $10 total, and that's getting on and off in a few places in between. But, memory is probably faulty. My figure is at best just a guess now. But, it is comparably small like the number I quoted.

I was just through Kansas a couple of weeks ago and found the roads in general to be very good and the toll roads were fine also. The toll amounted to about $.04 per mile for a 2 axle vehicle, multi axle trucks, trailers etc. get up to about $.11 per mile. I was towing my Jeep behind, so got hit with the 4 axle rate but it was, to me, a reasonable charge for a good road.
Good highway. Kansas does a good job on their Interstate highways. (Drove it in April, but can't remember the toll --- around $10.00 I think, 4 axles.)

Yes our footprints are abundant along that route. We go back and forth from the Leavenworth Kansas area to Wichita real often. As the others have indicated the Kansas Turnpike all the way from the Oklahoma state line to Topeka is in very good condition.
There are 3 rest stop areas positioned about 30-35 miles apart. Each has fuel and a McDonalds, plus available space to park and rest if you like.
Enjoy the Flint Hills area and if you get real bored try to count the cattle within site from the Turnpike.
We typically get off of the turnpike at Emporia and then get on I35 at that point, and then go northeastward into the Kansas City area.
I35 is also in very good condition. The only advantage to taking I35 is that it costs nothing at all.
Enjoy your trip and be careful.

I've driven the Kansas Turnpike from the Oklahoma Border to Topeka many times. Cost for four axles is about $14.00. It's a very good road, with fuel and food stops along the way. The "Scenic Flint Hills" aren't the Alps, but hey, this is Kansas! Watch out for that three foot hill near Emporia.

We drive the KS Turnpike about twice a year. We get on at the south entrance point and either get off at Topeka, if we're headed for SD or continue on to KCS if we're headed for MN.
The KS Turnpike is designated as I-335 all the way from the OK/KS state line to KCS. As stated you can get off at Emporia which a lot of folks do and save about half on the tolls.
The disadvantage of getting off is that I-35 brings you into KCS on the SW side of town. You will have a lot more traffic including trucks to deal with, especially if you're continuing on up toward MN.
The turnpike feeds you right into I-70 and I-635 or I-435 that will bypass downtown on the west side. I-35 feeds you right into downtown
The turnpike gets a new overlay of asphalt about every three of four years and its always a smooth ride. I-35 from Emporia was in the process of being rebuilt several years ago and we've not driven it since.
A two axle vehicle will cost about $8.50 or so and it goes up by vehicle class at that point. I'll try and find the KS Turnpike website that list the toll charges.
