OK...
so I'm slowing moving towards the hybrid camper. I'm in the "doing my homework" phase. I see a lot of folks recommend the Equal-i-zer hitch.
Why?
does it take care of WDH as well as sway?
In addition to safety, I'm interested in something that is easy to set up, hitch up, and generally deal with.
Comments, feedback?
Thanks.

We've had the Equal-i-zer for a year now and it has worked wonderfully with both our 18 and 27 foot trailers. I highly recommend it. It's as easy to set up as any WDH.
Yes it does have anti-sway.
I've never had any experience with any other WDH/AS hitch so take that into consideration. Those that have the Reese Dual Cam swear by it also.
You really should go to their site. Check it out HERE

I like the fact it does both anti sway and weigh distribution. No hidden friction mechanism to jam of go wrong when you back up the trailer at the site. Every component is in plain view.

You just answered you own questions right in your own post!
Other than the fact that my "L" brackets keep shifting around on the trailer tongue frame (other brands have this problem too on narrow frame members), it has functioned perfectly for me, even in VERY high crosswinds that I experienced on my last trip through the plains of Indiana and Illinois.
All in all, I am very happy with the hitch.

and it has fewer parts to deal with than the hitches with the chains.

I will admit I have never had the Equalizer set up. But it does seem to get a bit over-hyped. When we bought our new Roo I asked our dealer about the Equalizer which he happens to sells. While being a great product, he portrayed it as being a bit over-priced. Our Pro-Series weight distribution and Reese sway control are simple to use and were much less expensive. I've towed in some horrible winds this spring and the whole set up towed like a dream.

$399 delivered is a "bit overpriced?"

I think your dealer was over-pricing the Equal-I-zer hitch in order to sell Reese hitches (which he probably made more profit on).
One of the selling points of the Equal-I-zer is that it can usually be had for at LEAST $100 LESS than the Reese setup.

We love ours. WDH with built in sway control. Never a wiggle on ours. I bought it instead of Reese Dual Cam as I have bad back and perceived it to be MUCH easier to hook and unhook --- as long as you ALSO have an electric tongue jack so NO LIFTING is required to slide bars on/off.

Love mine, had one for the hybrid and it performed flawlessly. It is great becuase unlike the bolt-on Reese/Robin anti-sway arm on a standard hitch you can backup with the Equalizer Brand still fully attached. Also, the systems parts are of a high quality and the company is really a "standup" in the customer service section.
RVW will ship you that unit for $399.
