Exactly.

Pilot truck stop at exit 224 on Florida's I-75 charges an extra 6c per gallon for credit card purchases according to their big sign out front.

There is no profit in owning a gas station? Do not pay attention to the fact that every major grocery, club, and local is opening a gas station. Costco for example, expanding their gas offerings, accepting credit cards, less expensive then the competition, and they are doing so because they just like us members and do not make a profit on it at all, right. You can always tell where the money is, follow the new business offerings, another example eye glasses.
My rant for the day.

it was on the news here that some stations are complaining of losing money when credit cards are used as they have to give the credit card company's a piece of there fuel profits and they don't make that much on a gallon of fuel and they don't want to raise there prices and lose there business to other stations.

So, how is the best way to deal with the "cash" issue? Do gas companies still have their own cards? Will the dealers accept their company cards? I remember having Shell, Texaco, Mobil, Phillips, etc. cards years ago before we consolidated to one Visa card. Maybe we can get some input on this for gas guzzling trips and full-timers.

Here locally--Beckley WV--Go Mart offers 5 cents off a gallon on diesel if you pay with cash OR debit card. No discounts off gasoline though. Go Mart is the only ones doing this here, and they've done that for at least 5, maybe 6 years now.

Most of the ones in NTexas that do no accept credit cards and many take all but Amer Exp, (supposedly they charge way toooooooo much ) DO take debit cards. Actaully some pumps will accept debit cards, but not credit cards. Getting to be a common occurance around this neck of the woods.

However with debit cards I have read they hold an amount way over the amount you actually put on the card until the bank pays them, this can one day or several days. However if like the Sunoco station has covered the card reader, you cannot use any card at the pump. So it would be logical to assume they wont take them inside the store either. However I am sure there are exceptions in every town.

This happened to us at a local gas station .. we quit going there as they processed twice the amount of the sale.
