I don't think you'll be happy with kids those ages trying to get into one hybrid bed and the furnature. Sleeping on the dinette is no fun at all and the sofas are usually bad jokes for any comfort once turned into beds.

There are several brands with three hybrid beds. The Cub 23TT ($price?) is a nice floor plan. As in the Roo 233 ($14,900 nicely equipped). Different bed arrangements, but three queen berths.

With 3 kids two are gonna have to share one but with three at least two are the same gender, so that issue is solved. There are are also "bunkhouse" models with four beds (two upper, two lower) which will give each their own space. Have to watch sunny sites with these as there's little ventilation from what I can tell from visiting (but not sleeping) them.

with bunks - I've always felt claustraphobic. I can't sleep with the ceiling inches away from my face. And Chuck, you're right about the ventilation issue - it takes a lot to cool and keep fresh air in those little 'cubbies' - not for me.

You may want to consider a htt with more beds but you could get along fine in the 23B with the kids.

Two can easily sleep in the back bed. We often took other couples with us and they had plenty of room. Other child can sleep on the sofa. I have slept on the sofa and the dinnette, neither were unbearable for these older bones. Your kids are young enough to sleep comfortably on concrete.

If the back bed gets a bit disorganized, don't worry about it. We did the same thing at home, we just closed the door. In the 23B, close the curtain.

Sleeping bags would fit the bill for the kids and possibly yourselves.

DW and I, and our guests generally used sleeping bags. Only on long stays and in warm weather did we bother with sheets or a blanket.

We found that lightweight sleeping bags with some blankets in storage for cooler nights was all that we needed in over 300 nights of camping in the htt.

In reality, it really doesn't matter what size htt you get, with three active youngsters, any trailer is going to seem small at times.

If you go with bunk beds, check the weight limits. Some are only about 150 pounds and they have always looked on the small size for a growing teenage boy.

Wife and I bought a 2007 jayco 23b last November and have loved it what a change from having PUP for years. We have had it out for 3 trips this year and have not had any problems. I do wish we had a bigger gray tank so we just make sure we are hitting camp grounds where we can dump it every 3 days low ground clearance hasn't caused us any problems yet, before we brought it home I had cut some 2 x 10 boards expecting we would need them. good luck on which ever unit you buy and happy camping.

We have a 23B and love it. I don't think setting a table up/down for a bed is a hassle, you may. We love the extra space the large table affords. We have 3 high school age kids and easily fit at the table with room to spare. My oldest son is 6'2" and my wife and I are not small. This was a major reason in our choosing the Jayco. We like to eat and play games together at one table. Sometimes weather dictates being inside and the extra space is nice. No other HTT really allows this, at least not that we found. I know some worry about low clearance, just take it easy. We just returned from a 2 week 3000 mile trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP with no issues.
I don't know anything about the SS, but are very, very pleased with our 23B.
Good luck, and buy the camper YOU like best. Keep looking and you will know which one is right for you.

We have had our 23b for 2 years now. We have two young boys and the 23b is perfect. At times we wish that there was more room, but how much time do you really spend inside anyway. We have looked at many bunkhouse models, and always have come back to the 23b. An additionaly benefit is the lightweight of trailer. We pull it with a Suburban and have adsolutely no problem. Overeall the quality is tremendous, and I would recommend the 23b to anyone willing to listen to the recommendation. Happy camping

Thank you all so much for your responses! Everyone had very insiteful comments and suggestions. Well, the numbers made the difference. Even though the Jayco was a better price, they really came in thousands lower on our trade. This was a surprise as this dealership sold us our trade! We'll be paying 50 dollars less a month on the Star Stream. The service at this Jayco dealership was not user friendly with our previous, so I think it's all for the best.
We had bunks before on a tt and had missed them, so I think it was the way to go for us, regardless. My daughter is Vietnamese and will never ever reach the weight limit. So, when her brother does, she'll get the top bunk! (We joke that she'll need a booster in the limo on her wedding day ). I did love the spaciousness of the 23B, but we've been in a popup and have noted we all spend more time together outside with the popup then we ever did with our larger RVs. I more than understand why you all love your 23b HTTs. Jayco should be proud! Thanks again. You are all great!

Congrat's! At the end of day all of us with young families have a budget and sometimes that is the compromise!

Happy camping, Starcraft is a great company so you ought to be happy with it.

Two Comments;
1. After installing a longer draw bar shank and dropping the nose (coupling) of our 23B to were it should be, or waste pipe clearance issue improved a lot.

2. While traveling we use a 'hacksack' from Leisure Industries in Idaho. Basically a sleeping bag with Velcro in sheets that can be removed and washed. Made our xcountry ,and Mass. to Florida, trips a lot easier.

Otherwise, we are not familiar with the SS, ---- so we love our Jayco.
