I posted earlier thinking we were interested in a Cub, but the floorplan we liked is hard to come by and dealers in our area are scarce. We visited two dealerships yesterday and are now considering the Jayco 23B (love the spacious layout and Udinette, inside storage and auto. awning) or the Star Stream (bunks are a big plus as we have three kids, carrying capacity is larger than the Jayco and tanks are larger). Any thoughts or experience with either of these? We like both for different reasons, so are waiting for the numbers from the Jayco dealership. We came in at the end of their day, have a trade, and both managers were closing other sales so we told the salesperson we would rather just wait until Monday. In the meantime, we'd appreciate any insights. Have researched and read some feedback on Jaycos, but slim to none of the Star Craft Star Streams.

i would take the Jayco over the SS. with a family of 5, the U-dinette
will come in handy, especially on a rainy day. and the sofa would be an easy bed to setup for the third child. and you get the slideout and the tons of storage/closet space.
the tank sizes are close enough not to be a big factor. the SS doesn't have a slide and that's a big deal with 5 people. it'll be tight fitting 5 of you in a regular dinette. the only advantage the SS has is the bunks. but you give up a lot of other things to have that.

I am the proud owner of a Jayco 23B. I am new to RV'ng so I can't speak to other models/brands, but my wife and I love our 23B. We just bought it a few months ago and have had it out camping 3 times now. It tows great, has ample room and storage and all the features for which we were looking. We too loved the floor plan.

There are a few things that I wish were different, but I am sure there would always be something, no matter what trailer we ended up with. At the end of the day, I am very satisfied with my purchase. Hope this helps in your decision.

All this talk about my Jayco makes me want to go camping!

Owned a 23B for four years and really enjoyed it.

It is a very versatile trailer.

With your family, the slide would definitely be a plus not only for a larger area but to keep out of mom's way when she is cooking.

Jayco makes a good product and they have a very good customer service department.

I believe they still offer the two-year warrantee and they also give a free one year membership to CoachNet.

With the placement of the tv, you and your family should all be able to enjoy it by using the sofa and u-dinette. What I liked was that it was at eye level.

Put a chair in front of the table and you should be able to sit five around it fairly comfortably.

Can't comment on the other trailer as I am not familiar with it.

I love my 23B as well, but the ground clearance is horrible. Even with the optional two inch lift on the new ones it's not great. If you have a steep pitch driveway like me, don't even consider the Jayco. Having to drag 4 2x10's to the end of the driveway plus change out to a drop hitch kinda sucks the fun out of it.

I vote against the Jayco. Had a very BAD experience with a new Jayco hybrid. Their company has gone downhill! You will be glad you have the bigger tanks on the Starstream.

The 23B is one of Jayco's most popular models... around here, a few people have bought em just for the resale value! I didn't have any issues with the low clearance (without a lift) on either my 19H or our current 232. My dealer has been a big reason I've stayed with Jayco - super family!

We love our SS22RBH. Having the bunks and the 2 tent ends gives you lots of sleeping space. The bigger tanks is a +++.

We have the silver colour but I see now that you can get the gold or blue as well.

You won't regret the Startstream...I can't make a comment on the Jayco as I have no experience with one.

Whichever one you pick you will be happy with it.

I think making up beds EVERY night would be a big pain in the behind! I'd go for the bunkhouse. I lived in SW Michigan and bought my PUP in Elkhart as there weren't many dealers around me either. There's Krenek in Coloma but I don't know where in SW Michigan you live. I'm now in SE Michigan and there's a multitude of dealers. Good luck. How old are the kids?

When we camp, it's DH & me mostly. Occasionally step-daughter (16) comes, though not necessarily her choice

We're 40 or so miles from Coloma, and have visited Kreneks, but haven't yet for hybrid shopping. Avoiding making up the beds every night is what makes us take a second look at the Star Stream. Initially, I hated the exterior look, but really like the inside and those bunks. Our kids are ages 13, 9, and 8. Thanks for the input and the same to everyone else. We still haven't heard back from the Jayco dealer with their numbers for our trade, so we're still hashing this out between the two HTTs. We appreciate all perspectives, so please keep them coming forum!
