I'm down in Mexico having just had my motorhome painted. The pictures have been taken and there was hand shaking all around. The boss went to drive away and his truck was dead. One of his side kicks got out and opened the hood. After striking the battery connections a few times nothing happened. His next move was to grab a beer out of the cooler in the truck and pour a little over each terminal. The boss turned the key and the engine snapped to life.
Beer on the terminals????? How does that help?

Use to put Vodka in the windshield washer jug when I was stationed in Berlin. Not telling you that I sprayed it on the windshield.

I've heard of using Coke or Pepsi to clean battery terminals. But not beer.

Does this tell you something about batteries, or about Mexican beer?

I've used 7-UP to clean cables and connections for years, The carbonation acts like baking soda. Perhaps theres enough carbonation in beer to do the same thing.

Anything that is carbonated is a form of carbonic acid, i.e., carbon dioxide dissolved in water. I wouldn't think it would be strong enough to do much but maybe is was enough.
Carbonic acid also occurs naturally in the blood stream in small quantities.
