If I understand you correctly, and I think I do, you paid 25000 plus trade valued at 5000 for the 97 Pace Arrow. You see this as 30000. What was the list price? You see the unit as worth 18000. From what do you base this? So, you think that the dealer was OK in making a 4000 profit. That would be a little low avg on that amount. Not real low, but low.
The important thing is yu like the coach and you have it where yu want it now.
Dealers do deserve to make a profit on each coach they sell. Just not all of it on your sale, right?
Enjoy, and don't dwell on it.

as with anything else buyer beware.....everyone hates the car dealer untill they have to walk. the big problem i have w/the rv buying process is it can be hard to get a real value of a unit, the builders change models and names like the seasons, and sometimes the best you can do is get close, but as others have said do your homework and no matter what you should have a ballpark price of the units worth before even talking to a salesman imho.....
who left the light on? is it me or are we leaning downhill. where did the dog run off to
I feel for ya, I just bought and think I did ok, 2000 Winnebago Journey 36, 30K miles, all avail options/upgrades on the coach internally plus, Cummins, Frieghtliner, etc.. Stored inside.. Paid 50K... I did a lot of research and got what I wanted and think I did ok on the price. I got it off a consignment lot from a "motivated seller" (lots of those around in this buyers market). In any case there is always a bit of next day buyers regrets with any big purchase and you will always find better deals down the road as you go. In the end just enjoy what you got and be glad you have the money do do so! cheers

Anybody think MAYBE the dealer paid a little more for that "nice" coach so he could make a deal on the coach that one was traded in for ??? Maybe we should think about this when we trade in our coaches and want top dollar. If the dealer pays us a nice price for our trades, does that mean the next purchuser of that coach is getting "ripped off" ??? Can't have it both ways...
They're pretty hard core here. But you're both right. Mike Thompson will take you for what they can, and it's your job to stop them.
There is an aweful lot of valuable information on this forum. It saved me a bunch. I was about to buy a New Discovery from MT, at not the very best price, a few years back. It was suggested that Fleetwood didn't have the best quality record and MT didn't have the best service record.
For about 25% of that new Discovery, I bought an older used coach with most of the bugs removed. And saved the other 75% for my future upgrade.
They're not always polite here, but they have tons of knowledge to share. That's why I hang around.

That may be a little harsh - but I hope you can move on & enjoy your camper.
......kinda dito.....I love statements like this---the only thing you can "make" them do is lose your business if you buy another RV......if you think you made a mistake, step up and accept your own responsibility, who knows if the person who traded in the Pace Arrow was "completely honest". Why did they trade it in anyway? Not every 1997 Pace Arrrow is worth the same. There are so many variables, like condition, miles, smoker, PETS.....etc....if we all dwell on the purchase price of our toys, we'd never in our right minds buy a DEPRECIATING, uh, asset?...enjoy the heck out of it and keep moving on down the road!!!....send your salesman a post card in spite of it all, in other words, get the last laugh....all this is JMHO....good luck and have a great and safe 4th!

Homes, cars, RV's, service, you name it. It's always you against them. A contest if you will. Do your homework and all parties are happy. Everyone has had the experience one way or another.
