My 2008 Seneca has aluminum wheels. Pros and Cons? Why do the steel valve stems face backwards into a hole in the wheel? That makes air checks and adds a major task. Any solutions to that? Thanks, Tex

Alcoa are the best of the best, forged in the USA from a block of 6061-T6 Aluminum by a machine that applies up to 50,000 tons of pressure to form the wheels, which are 423% stronger than steel, and twice as strong as cast aluminum wheels. The same presses make M1A tank wheels, the Space SHuttle wheels and Jumbo jet wheels.
Jayco really didn't cheap out on your RV's wheels! So that would be a big "Pro!" And no "cons!" We are looking for our 8th Jayco right now, waiting for the new Embark to show up, or maybe a Seneca! Good luck!

Agreed. We'd all have them, I think, but for the expense. Consider yourself lucky.

I saw where one person had dismounted the tire and loosened the valve stem and turned it around. Now it faces out.

Alcoa has air gauges and valve stem extensions on their site. Alcoa Aluminum Wheels. They also have supplies to care for your wheels. They do not sell these products. You need to use their search to find a dealer.
You can also add stainless steel braided extensions.
Removing the front caps can be a problem. Because the stem caps are set inside hole. Here is a tool that works Valve Pal. Others have made one from rubber hose and a wood dowel.
I purchased a valve stem chuck and gauge at a RV rally like these displayed on Alcoa's site.
Models 003500 and 001605.

There is one con. Cleaning and polishing non clear coated wheels. Even with the best polishes and a powerball it is still a time consuming PITA.

Alcoa wheels simply look great, increasing the sense of quality of an RV, and I understand they are made with the best of workmanship. But......how would a motorhome benefit in practical ways? Is there a significant "Unsprung" weight reduction that would improve the quality of the ride? What are the weight differences between the two types of wheels? Alcoa wheels should be better balanced compared to stamped steel, but RVs generally cruise at slower speeds for fuel economy, thus reducing the benefit of the perfect balance of wheels.
I would think there is nothing to gain except for styling, but would love to hear your opinions on the "practical" benefits of the Alcoa wheels compared to stock steel with covers.
