Anyone have a decent place for a stop over for the night that would be west of St. Louis on I-70? Maybe in the area of O'Fallon or Columbia, MO? I know there are some Wal-Marts in Columbia....any advice on which to avoid, etc?

There are two campgrounds around exit #170. Lazy Day Campground and Kan-Do campground will suit you needs. One is on the north side of the highway the other is on the southside.

The Jonesburg Gardens Campground located at exit #183 was once a KOA and would be just an OK place to stop. The campground owners are nice but the trees aren't being kept trimmed and there are a lot of them.

In Columbia, MO the Cottonwoods RV park is very nice and clean, but it's located right next to the fairgrounds so if there is an event going on it can be noisy at times.

I can't comment on the Crooked Creek Campground because they are under new management and actually were reinstated by Good Sam Club. We drove through there about four years ago and the place was a dump.

Graham Cave State park at Montgomery City is just off the interstate and the least expensive of any campground between St. Louis and Columbia. No full hook up, just electric. They do have water and dump station in the park..

I would second Graham Cave. Nice, clean and not a parking lot.
