I realize that if I take a my dishnet work set up with me in my TT that once I get so far away from my house I will no longer recieve my local channels. My question is that once I set up everything at a new location will I get their local channels since local programming is part of the package I have. My concern is that i want to put together a system so we can Watch the Olympics while we are in Watkins Glen for the NASCAR race but it will be on NBC which is part of my local programming, will I still pick up some type of NBC in that area or will I not get the Olypmics at all?
Thank You

You will only receive local channels while you are close to home. When you get away from the spot beam you will now receive local channels of any kind.

Depending how far away you are you might be able to get your local channels. The spot beam is about 200 miles in each direction. Also sometime the spot beam will come in at night but not work in the day. Last winter I signed up for Tucson channels but was in the San Diego area and could watch network late in the afternoon and after dark. A quck solution to network programming is to call dish and tell them you just moved to Watkins Glen and need service. Give them an address and you will be hooked up. When you return home just tell them you moved back.

So since I will be completely out of my local network beam I wont get any NBC covereage at all? Is that what I can assume?

You wont get any network feeds but you will get all the other channels on Dish. Its not that hard to change local channels. All you have to do is have an address to give them. One time I even made up an address and gave them a friends PO Box. It only takes about five minutes.

I get my locals changed when I go from Indiana to Florida for the winter. First, I had to convince DishNetwork that I only had one receiver and wasn't sharing my subscription with someone else.
I also found out that Indiana requires a Super dish, three satellites and Florida, a Dish 500, 2 satellites, to get local programming. You may run into the same thing depending on your locations.
Plus my change in locals is long term, 5 months, whereas you may be only wanting a change in locals for a few days or weeks. Only way to find out is to call them; but I suspect in your case the answer will be NO.

I see you understand spot beams, and understand that if you are too far from home you do not get your locals.
The other issue is the receiver is "locked" to your home channels If I visit my daugher.. (2 thousand miles) I can not get my home cause I'm way out of the spot beam.. I also can not get HER locals cause I'm not authorized for those.
Now if you have an RV account you can call All American Direct Communicasions LLC and subscribe to the east/west coast national feeds (NYC or LA IIRC)

Ok - here is what I have done for two years. I have Dish and when I go to Florida I call and tell them I am at my Florida home and I need to have my locals switched, give the address of the RV Park and in about 5 minutes I get all the stuff from home in Michigan plus the local channels in either Port St. Lucie or Ft. Myers. When I get home I call and have them switch them back. I don't ask, since I'm paying for locals, I just tell them I need my locals switched back to my billing address. When I switch to the Florida locals, I do keep my billing address in Michigan.
