I wouldn't want grey water running from under my trailer at a campsite. However, I can't imagine that there is a legitimate environmental concern, unless you are using some funky stuff in the sink or shower. Modern soaps, shampoos and food stuff have zero detriments.

Our 69 doesn't have a gray tank, just 2 clear plastic ones.

We use a long garden hose and drain it underneath other peoples trailers, I wouldn't want that stuff under mine either.

I believe gray tanks were optional in the early 70's (and I'm sure standard and /or optional on some brands) but they pretty much came on most all trailers by 1973 and later.

We use to use five gal buckets back then, or just dump it on the ground. Of course this is before we knew how terrible that is for the enviorment, folks out here in the country have been doing to for decades. Just have him use a blue tote, it is the easiest way to go. He can plumb a grey tank but is it worth it?

It was only bad for the environment back when soaps and detergents contained massive quanitites of Phosphates. They no longer do and the EPA actually advocated the recycling of greywater for irrigation use.

Looks like that old 1968 trailer has become "environmentally correct" with the passage of time.

(Of course, you still need the 5 gallon bucket in crowded campgrounds)

68's did not have a gray water tank. We use a 5 gallon kerosene container to catch the gray water on both of our trailers. See sig.
Rubiranch is right, trailers before 73 did not have tanks for gray water. I have a 1970 16' (no gray water tank) and a 73 22' (gray water tank) I'm working on right now.
If my memory serves me, they banned phosphates in soaps around 1973. At that time I owned a small grocery and had to remove all soaps from shelves and replace.

One of the reasons campgrounds sometimes ask how old your trailer is. And then they sometimes keep you out due to local codes.

He hasn't had time to hook up the brake controller in the Fury wagon yet. Here are pictures of the trailer.

there's one just like that, about 2 miles from here, same red stripe and all

my 73 glenelle doesn't have a grey water tank either. most places i've gone have full service sites, or have plublic sinks. but i've gotta get one of the small 5-10 gallon totes for mine
