I thought I would share - this happened yesterday afternoon in Boise. Would definitely be interested in knowing what caused the spark to make this happen. Luckily no one was hurt and they were able to unhitch the truck.

Was the unit vented? Maybe static spark.

Now THAT's an RVQ!

Bummer!

We used to carry gas in 30-gallon drums in our old trailer - didn't have enough storage in our Fuel Station and didn't have Race Gas. Needless to say, we are much more happy with our new trailer!

That is a good sales pitch for those Maxx-Air vents that can be left open. . . I may have to look into one of those. Ventilation can't hurt. . . especially when it is warm or something burns inside.

Not sure a vent on the roof would solve a gas fume issue? Gas is heavier than air and would stay low to the ground / floor. This is the reason for the low vents in the cargo area.

I have a fantastic fan that is always on in the garage. Really pulls the air out of the garage.

Bummer. I watched a toyhauler burn to the ground in barstow last time I was out. Apparently a flare up while cooking got out of hand and a fire extinguisher was out of reach. Also got the front of the tow vehicle as it was unhooked and pulled right up to the side of the trailer. I now have three fire extinguishers in mine.

All the haulers come with vents, the older ones were doors down low, hte newer ones are up high, but can be left open when traveling, the older ones not. Since gas fumes are heavier than air I would think they would put the newer ones down low also. Personally I never carry fuel in the rig, just in the fueling station and back of the truck but of course there's fuel in the toys and if they fall over, etc. you've got the potential for a fire. Maybe they forgot to turn off their water heater? The fridge pilot/burner is up too high in most rigs to ignite gas fumes I think.
