I keep getting an e-mail saying the following:

This email confirms that you have sent an eBay payment of $347.85 USD to
achaade13@yahoo.com for an eBay item.

Is this a scam or has someone used my e-mail address? Should I respond or ditch the e-mail?

Call or e-mail E-Bay's security department. It's probably some kind of scam.

Enter the Yahoo e-mail address into Google and look what comes up. This is a Phishing scam.

Of course it's a scam.

The scammer is trying to get you to panic at the size of the "payment" and the fact that you didn't make it. There is probably (and conveniently) a PayPal link on the page that will take you directly to PayPal if you think this was a fraudulent transaction. Click the link, enter your user id and password and you WILL be in trouble!

If you right click on the link or view the page source, you will see it's gonna send you to someplace other than Paypal.com.

This is a really "good" scam. It almost got me when I first started getting those e-mails. I was in a panic about losing that much money and almost clicked on the link in the e-mail.

Another one I get now & then is an e-mail from "EBay" that my password has been changed (when I did not change it), and if this was in error, I needed to click on the provided link to re-enter my password.

Most of these scams are easy to spot (mis-spelled words, bad grammar, etc.), but now and then, someone with a bit of intelligence tries one out.

Send any suspicious eBay or Paypal emails respectively to either:

"spoof@ebay.com" or "spoof@paypal.com"

I get numerous emails daily that I forward.

If you get one of these emails and are worried about it, log directly into your Paypal account using www.paypal.com. Do NOT click on the link in the email.

The is a 99.9% chance that you won't see a transaction on your Paypal account.

DO NOT, EVER, EVER click on a link like that. If you are suspicious contact Paypal directly. There are a lot of scammers out there.
